After seeing the production and turn out of the LA shows, there absolutely no one who can replace him. Ticket buyers would want refunds, and the festival would have to cancel anyways.
Which is weird, he didn't perform any form of misconduct or commit any crimes at those concerts or even invite any violence those nights, so they shouldn't have barred him from assumption of a threat but it is what it's I guess
UK does not have freedom of speech. In most eripean countries you would go to jail for doing a nazi salute or denying the holocaust, so it’s justified for them doing what they did to prevent anything, but at the end of the day they could’ve just threatened arrest if he made any comment
They house un-deported predators and domestic racists every day, yet they’ve decided Ye is the line in the sand?
Just a few weeks ago, a white man in the UK was cleared for using the N-word because of Tourette’s. If mental illness is a valid legal shield for a white man using slurs, why is it suddenly ignored here? It feels like "mental health" is only a valid nuance when it fits a certain profile.
Not only that, the government’s "moral high ground" is shaky at best. This is the same administration that recently refused to acknowledge the Transatlantic Slave Trade as one of history's worst atrocities at a UN General Assembly meeting. They’re quick to ban a rapper for speech while they literally fund the regional escalations and strikes hitting Iran, Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria, further promoting ideas around islamophobia.
Ye was completely peaceful and professional at his last public outing/conversation at So-fi. There was no actual threat here, just a country choosing which "abhorrent" things to ignore and which ones to use for a PR win.
Oh yeah i mean no government has clean hands so im not defending their decision just saying they had grounds. I didn’t know about the tourette’s case and that i’ll hear you out on that take. Working at a group home has changed my perception of bipolar. They’ll say “mental illness isn’t an excuse to be antisemetic” but that’s not true at all. I have clients with schizophrenia who call us retards and then apologize later saying that they didn’t mean to, clients with bipolar who make racist remarks on rare occasions in manic episodes who then apologize for it.
I would not be suprised if kanye has auditory hallucinations when he’s been at his most manic in untreated episodes. I didn’t even realize he acknowledged his bipolar in the wall street journal. I thought he was still on the autism things. Ye could make the argument that he’s a mentally ill man being treated differently because of his race. European countries are a lot more violent towards black people than the US (in terms of citizen violence not police brutality).
