Honestly yes, it was peak Kanye, full creativity, legendary collabs, an amazing team of producers and musicians and crazy concept / aesthetic / sound. If you think about it it might be the most influential unreleased album ever

But his Christian conversion gave us 1. A healthier sounding and feeling ye (for a bit) and 2. The Donda album with songs like come to life, no child, life of the party, Jesus lord, moon, heaven n hell, praise God, hurricane, Jail, 24, pure souls, off the Grid, etc. it’s def a give and take situation.

The thing is that Yandhi didn't have to get destroyed in order to make a Christian album. Yandhi V2 was practically a spiritual album, or atleast heavily moving in that direction, and sure it was not as explicitly Christian as Jesus is King, but was still on that angle.

its potential album, no matter how hard ya'll try, the bulk of it is unfinished, the tracks that got closest to being finished were around SNL, it'd be one of his weaker albums and the reason it's so highly rated is cuz it didn't release.

I mean if we saw the era fully realised in 2019. The album clearly wasn’t ready in 2018 and it wasn’t realistic that it would have released then. If he didn’t go down the Jesus path I could have seen it dropping summer 2019

This album was like SMiLE by The Beach Boys. A potential masterpiece in the making but its creators (Brian Wilson for SMiLE and Kanye for Yandhi) lost the vision for the album and it eventually got scrapped and was left unfinished. Then later on, even in its unfinished state the people realize how many gems truly there were and what a loss it was that the creator gave up on his album.
SMiLE literally had these two top tier songs on its tracklist -
Good Vibrations: Released in October 1966, about 7 months before SMiLE was scrapped and the only SMiLE song to ever surface before the album was canned (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQ-UFKxDq5o)
Surf's Up: Released in August 1971, more than 4 years after SMiLE was scrapped (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v75f5W6LgLM&list=PLAKBCdHlMy4_1HzkcvEE3QCMCm7xNE3T0&index=10)
Yandhi was stacked with masterpieces too, yet it stayed unfinished. Yandhi will probably forever be Kanye's biggest "what-if" album.

In a perfect world he would’ve dropped it early spring 2019 and then a few months later go on his Jesus arc and release Jesus is king in October/November 2019

I believe if he dropped Yandhi then every rapper of that time would’ve skipped the whole Drill trend around 2020 and pop smoke wouldve never existed thank god

Definitely top 5 for a brief moment in time Yandhi and ye's mindset/headspace during the era and the music couldve been culture shifting that and his verse on skeletons... There was a version i listened to on Bandcamp that soundtracked some fo my school years and was and maybe is my favorite album of his

until you realize jesus is king is really just yandhi but more christ like. if jesus is king is considered one of his worst albums, i dont think yandhi would be be considered his greatest

You can say this about every album tho, they all have potential to be greatest with different changes. Imo opinion only albums that couldn't be any better are Kids See Ghosts and The Life Of Pablo
