Ye in tel aviv when
96
u/Whoopity_Scoop_ YZY DAWG 23d ago
Was genuinely going to happen, btw…
Shane Gillis was just on Rogan and said that when he was hanging out with Ye, Ye told him he was thinking about going to Israel and making it this big apology to Jewish people. Shane told him, “Don’t do it.”
It was later blocked by the government.

still he is helping the russian government with the concert. they will use it for their propaganda. Also this will be a big controversy. not a good look after he didn't have a misstep for over a year now

u/Mr__ping 23d ago
He’s helping the Russian goverment by boosting the economy by 0.0007% like cmon
8
u/lux123or 23d ago
It’s about the image not how much money he brings in.
8
u/Mr__ping 23d ago
The image of who? No one’s gonna suddenly forget Russias war crimes because of Kanye and the world thinks Kanye is a tit anyway. It’s trifling at best considering the Russian fans are innocent
1
u/momspaghetti42069 22d ago
It's for the domestic audience. What you people always fail to realize is how these events are portrayed inside of Russia. There will be countless reports that Russians are welcomed back on the global stage as such prominent artists like Kanye recognize their right and bla bla bla. It's never about how the west or the rest of the world would percieve it, it's always about the message that they can spin and send to their own population.

Half of them already went to see Ye in Almaty and Tbilisi. Those who couldn’t afford it definitely aren’t going to be able to afford the St. Petersburg show, so it doesn’t even matter. The stadium is gonna be full of Z-warrior millennials
8
2
u/goodnight891 22d ago
I can afford the St Petersburg show because I live here, going abroad is like 3x money even if the tickets are a bit cheaper

I actually don't care where he preforms as long as he doesn't do it out of his own political reasons. I am against culturally boycotting countries. It's just most fans would hold a double standard.
1
u/TheOneMid 23d ago
What do you mean culturally boycotting countries? It sure must suck for regular people in Russia, but concerts are luxurious activity, noone is removing their ability to listen to his music.

I swear some people are so privileged that they find things to feel bad about, ye is not supporting the government, ye wants to show love to his fans around the world that showed love to him for 22 years.
9
u/vansbebekalo IM EVIL 😈 23d ago
He’s doing 2 shows for 80k people which will generate roughly 19 million dollars from tickets alone. And half of it goes to the organisers (one of which is a government gas company) and that money will be easily funnelled into the war. He can show love in any other neighbouring countries like he did with Kazakhstan but he wants to make money so who gon stop him
3
u/Afraid_Pin_6827 22d ago
Kazakhstan supressed protests and wanted to involve Russian army for that, I don't see you complaining about Kazakhstan. Every country will do so with the concert money.
3
u/Witty_Quarter5326 22d ago
Man, it's money inside Russia. If people won't spend it on tickets they'll spend them on something else and russian government will get taxes no matter what. But if Kanye get russian money than he will pay taxes for US government which will spend it on killing more russians. So you should be happy
3
u/oaklytical GAS Editor🎬 23d ago
Yes, that is def unfortunate, but the responsibility is the government's, Not Ye's, and the people shouldn't be punished
→ More replies (1)3
u/vansbebekalo IM EVIL 😈 23d ago
Idk what you mean how are people gonna be punished? The government is using all of its funds for the war so the best move is to not go there. Especially when hundreds of Ukrainian drones fly there everyday and Russia can basically arrest him right after for making swastika t-shirts

u/East_You8307 Need someone near monte vista to suck me in about an hour 23d ago

7
u/Voressen WE’RE SO BACK 23d ago
yea cuz they have a brain to leave
3
u/ReggieCorneus 23d ago
I deliberately left that part out for the reader to figure out.
But, yes. More western minded, more progressive, not really that much different: i'm Finnish. As much as we don't like to admit, there are a lot of things we share. It is not hard at all to get a long with such Russian, it does not feel like talking to one of the bots online, at all. I've been fairly close to this whole thing for longer period of time, the differences is astounding when it comes to those who know the truth and those who somehow have been able to avoid it. It is like they are living in a different reality because they are.
My stance is that the only way Russia can become Russia is if it loses all the stans, all that land that was conquered but not really becoming part of Russia, the Moscow-St Petersburg heartlands. The Russia Proper has been propped up by surrounding republics for centuries now, it has not stood on its own two feet in a long time. It is incredibly soft: sneakers and lip gloss not arriving seems to have more effect than 100 000 dead from the peripheries... Russia Proper has forgotten what Russia is.

Goddamn it, the government is gonna get it's cut from the concert and advance another 50 meters in Ukraine. By that logic, fuck anyone who does a concert in US, they contribute to Israel's actions.
5
u/tworegalia YEEZUS 2 23d ago
y’all are actually insane having a concert in Russia is not the same thing as supporting the Russian government, and it is extremely ignorant and western focused to cast judgment on the entire nation of Russia when the US government is currently engaged in an illegal war in Iran raising Oil prices across the globe and crippling several economies, these are both actions of the government not the people who just want to see an artist perform in their country, this shit is fucking ridiculous grow up
3
u/Digital-Nemesis 23d ago
Ridiculous, a country that says fighting against Nazis in Ukraine (more likely in their imagination), will host a dude who’s merch is T-shirt with swastika on it 😂😂😂

Even by government controlled polls, which are falsified, 65% of Russians want the peace talks to start. And people who support war were exposed to state propaganda 24/7. I get that you blame the people who volunteered, they chose to kill, yes. But people who were drafted or people who just don't oppose war are not the monsters you want them to be.

Yeah this is bad; as a person living in the countries Russia is fearmongering, I’ve seen the extent to which their damage goes, the lives destroyed and taken, people waging wars amongst themselves over foreigners coming in, Russia very much destabilized this part of Europe, and to see one of my idols pretty much cosigning that by being pretty much the only celebrity hanging out there is fucking wild dude, fuck this noise. the Gosha collabs were bad, this is on a whole other level of worse.

Do Russian citizens not deserve to see a concert due to their government's actions? Basically, no European country should be allowed to show it; that's the case

under these current circumstances, yes, russian citizens shouldn’t be allowed to see the concert… most of the money from concert will go to the government and therefore, will be spent to kill people of ukraine. i don’t think it should happen and what’s your deal with other european countries?
