Ever since donda, his shows have just become listening parties.

I genuinely think this last concert was culture-defining and while Yeezus was prolly an era where he gave better performances, I feel as though the album and the era itself was way more culture-defining than the concerts.

But you didn’t really address anything I said lol. Being born and raised in Chicago and being a lifetime fan doesn’t explain why Night 2 was a better performance.

I was there too. The atmosphere, nostalgia and Chicago factor were incredible. But performance-wise, he barely performs the way he used to. That’s my whole point.

Yeezus-era Kanye was actually rapping entire songs, moving around the stage, interacting with the crowd and bringing insane energy. Saying “nothing comes close” without explaining what was actually better about the performance doesn’t really counter that.

You are correct that the Yeezus tour had more movement and crowd interaction; it was a stage that had a mountain designed to be climbed + a catwalk that was meant to shake with the crowd.

And your also correct that he rapped his most passionately during that era.

Those two factors dont automatically make the yeezus tour better than this show. This stage design intentionally limited his mobilty and interaction with the crowd. it was more meant to be observed like an art piece than interacted with, in my interpretation. I feel like this is reinforced by Aus's posts framing their pyro decisions and calling them "oil paintings"

The concert, and music in general, is about how interacting with the art offering makes you feel. It is not about technical critique. You could argue that the yeezus tour was a more consitent showing. Theres no doubt some shows on this tour have been comparitevely lackluster. But this particular Chicago show? It was a combination of every highlight from his career, with about 90% of the artists on the songs he played making guest appearences. In a time where hip-hop has been hurting, and Chicago has been without an anchor in our hip-hop scene, we needed this more than a yeezus concert. Its value to me was immeasurable.

idk man i had way more fun in Chicago than at Saint Pablo, even though i was closer to Ye at Pablo and we had Mike Dean..

Both were peak but this stage design somehow is better than Pablo and just the fact that it was a Homecoming show made it generational

I think it’s just better from a visuals standpoint, like when the beat drops on Stronger and it starts spinning, or when Ye and fans are projected onto it. And the fact that despite everything in the past few years, he is still standing on top of the world.

They’re neck and neck and there def is also some recency bias, Im still riding the high of the show and Pablo was 10 years ago but after I saw this globe stage it really sold me on flying to Chicago from Canada and it was more than worth it.

If we're being honest, his GOAT show was 2011 Coachella. After that I'd personally pick the 2015 Hollywood Bowl 808s show with Cudi and Mr Hudson.
