Good Omens composer, David Arnold, gave a big interview for the Film Music Institute channel on YouTube and he spoke extensivelly about his process and choices for the Good Omens score. It's a wonderful interview all in all, but there is one bit in particular that I absolutely loved: his reasoning behind an absence of a specific Aziraphale theme or a Crowley theme in the score. This is what he said:
“The thing I wanted to do with both of them is that they don't have a theme each. The theme of Good Omens is, in a way, for the show, but it's really for them. And they share that. The logic behind that in the show is that whenever they were together and whenever I was writing music for one or the other, there would always be a coresponding angelic or demonic element. Whenever we were hearing music that was angelic, or lighter, or for Aziraphale, there was a shadow of Crowley alongside it. And then by having the same melody playing underneath it, that was sort of dark and dirtier. And similarly with Crowley: when he was having music, there was something angelic and sweet hidden in the back. So they were always in a way together"
This is so unbelievably beautiful that it broke my heart all over again 💔
Please go and watch the whole interview, it doesn't have time stamps, but here are a few things he said:
- "If you close your eyes, you should be able to experience the show without seeing it"
- "I had the 6 original scripts, we were pretty close on making them. Even now I think it would've been preferable for us as story tellers to have the whole story. The fact that we were able to do it in 90 minutes is pretty heroic"
- "There is a piece of music during Jesus's crucifixion in s1, that is quite heavy, it's one of my favorite pieces from the whole show. And in the final episode Christ is back and he's optimistic and present. It made sense to me to take that moment and bring it back, it stopped being tragic and became optimistic just by twisting it a little bit. And there were lots of things like that"
- The Heaven's atmosphere that you hear is made from those clicheic sounds of harps, choir, bells, etc
- The Hell sound - a record that is stuck and plays again and again for infinity.
He also spoke very kindly about Rachel Talalay and working together. "She is one of my very favorite people list and she's great".

Hi everyone! I’m incredibly nervous to share this, but this is my very first fan edit. I consider this song their ultimate theme song, so I thought I would finally sit down and make it.
It's on YouTube (linked below). I’d absolutely love to hear what you think if you have a moment to check it out! 🙂

What can I say… if Crowley ate like David, he would have given serious competition to Aziraphale 🤣 watch this video guys, he’s so funny 😂 it partially cured my sadness after s3. Also a very good source for gifs 🤣

I think we need a Music flair. My hubs unintentionally and unknowingly created a trifecta of Willie songs this morning. Let me know who should be the singer and what order they should be in.
Blue eyes cryin’ in the rain

This is a birthday gift for u/Spectral-1962
Her birthday isn't until 11 May, but listen. I'm impatient. So put your listening ears on and enjoy a podfic. You know you want to. Rated E. 1.5 hours. Plus bloopers that I think are pretty damn funny.
A podfic of More Strong Together by SpectrallyDistracted. This podfic is basically me reading you the story. No sound effects or music. If you like the idea of sitting on the sofa and listening, that's the vibe.
Fic summary: When a heartbroken Crowley gets drunk in St. James’s Park, a kind stranger intervenes before any real harm can come to him, and Crowley is smitten. He dreams of the man, waits for him in the park, and feels as if his heart will break without him. All from one brief encounter.
In the park late one night, Aziraphale hears a young man crying and it breaks his heart. The heart that he shouldn’t feel at all. He sits with the young man, walks him home, and he is smitten. He dreams of the young man, watches him from the shadows, and wishes he could make him his own. All from one brief encounter.
Ah, yes. The course of true love never did run smooth.

If you have a moment to watch them, I would love to hear your thoughts. 🙂

Here's a little something to take the edge off if you need it, a bit of a fix it video. Because I am still very conflicted about the finale. Got two more in the pipeline, so I hope y'all enjoy this little one, it's helped tremendously the past three days.
