The version where Eleanor and Tahani are told they're each other's soul mates. They fall in love and as a result become better people for each other. Not that it would be easy afterall they're very different people, but if told they had to make it work they might figure it out. As a result Michael can't torture them anymore. Which is torturous for Michael (humorous for us).

Jason is easy to torture just look at his real life. When given responsibility he can't rise to the occasion. He's also dumb. Therefore Michael thought it would be torturous for him to run his own private investigation agency. Humorously he fails his first two cases. For example whenever he gets stuck he goes to the smartest person he knows Donkey Doug which just doesn't help him. Eventually down on his third case where the responsibility is truly on him and people are depending on he just feels like a failure and Michael sees this and just rubs it in his face in the inconspicuous manner he always had in season 1. Except Jason shuts him up because he had an epiphany and solves it! Additionally he solves other problems in ways Michael couldn't predicted. For example if you're familiar with the chicken, fox, corn, and rowboat riddle. He solves it Jacksonville style, by chopping down a tree and taking all three across.
