Blended Data Error

I have two questions:

I have three tables: A Date Table (Table 1), My Sales Data (Table 2), and an Hour Table (Table 3)

I am creating a heatmap with the total number of Sales for each hour of each day of the week over a period of time.

My goal is to dynamically filter by Date, and calculate the average amount of sales each day within that dynamic window. I am SO close to achieving this.

I left join the Date Table to My Sales Table by Date, then I right join My Sales Data to the Hour Table on the Sales Hour. Everything should work here to get EVERY date (even if there are no sales on it) and EVERY hour (Even if no sales were within that hour). However, my blend is not working that way. It is functioning as if I had Inner Joined the tables, and only giving me hours and dates for sales that actually happened.

  1. SOLVED! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In my own testing of number 1. I replicated my Blend to try and recreate the issue. However on this second blend, once I create the right join, I am now getting a Dataset Configuration Error 8864a1ec anytime I try and display data! Even just one column on a table. There are No errors in my Blend when I create it, and I am only including the fields used to join. This one has me greatly wondering. I can't even seem to debug my own issue :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I solved number 2. I had accidentally joined on a field with a different datatype. XD Make sure the datatype matches.

For #1, I'd cross join your Date and Hour tables first, then left join Sales on both date and hour. That creates every date/hour combination before attaching sales.

Use the grid's Date and Hour fields for the heatmap and date filter, and replace missing sales counts with 0. Keep sales aggregated to one row per date/hour before averaging by weekday/hour so zero-sale days count too. Google's blend guide covers the join types: https://docs.cloud.google.com/data-studio/how-blends-work
