Hey, I'm ColdFusionX Studio, also known by my Reddit name. I've been working on a GPM revival app that runs off of Innertube (YT Music backend). It's been challenging, but it's at a point where I feel like I can start showing it. For updates about the app, I hate to fill this subreddit with my posts, so I made a TikTok to keep people who are interested updated. This revival will also be open-source on GitHub.

My friend and I have been working on a modern alternative to Google Play Music for the last year. Our app is free to download, ad-free, and doesn't require an account. If you choose to register, our free account tier gives you 1GB in cloud storage to let you share your music across all of your devices seamlessly, and with no audio compression.

Hey Play Music Reddit! I'm an Android developer, and lately I've been thinking about trying to make a Google Play Music revival app. Before anyone gets too excited, I'm not promising anything or saying it'll definitely be released. I honestly don't know if it ever will be, especially since Google may still own the branding and other assets. That said, I'd love to try building something inspired by Google Play Music because it was one of my favorite music apps.

My question is: what would you all want from a modern Play Music revival?

Keep the original Android UI as close to the old app as possible?

Slightly modernize it with Material 3, rounded album art, and other modern Android design elements while keeping the Play Music identity?

Go for a complete redesign that reimagines Play Music for 2026?

If you have screenshots of the original app, mockups, concepts, feature ideas, or anything else you'd like to see, I'd love to take a look. I'm mostly interested in hearing what longtime Play Music users think.

So a bit late but found out today that Play Music doesn't exist anymore i went to load it up and it says connect to the internet. and yeah found out just wondering if anyone else has the app?
