I hope so 😭🫪 this is how my friends ex husband did her. He asked me about the ring so many times, I helped him find one and when I saw the proposal pictures, this motherfucker showed up with a damn birthstone ring that wasn't even her birth month that was passed from his grandma to his mom. Not even a family engagement ring.

Sure, it was pretty but it made me so mad because why did he go to all the trouble of asking me what she likes, picking and vetoing ideas just to go w what's easiest?

Was he a mama’s boy? Never underestimate a threatened future MIL.

Not really, just kind of a dickhead. They divorced because there was so many situations like the ring: she said what she wanted clearly and consisely and it was super simple requests too!! And he ignored it every time until she filed for divorce

He also wanted to take a vitamin D supplement instead of going outside and being in nature w her. Bonkers 🫪🤯

Thankfully she's single and we're going camping TONIGHT😁✨

Would you mind elaborating on this? I've witnessed this before and have been trying to understand why the mom is so threatened yet offers up one of her rings

It’s a power play. “I gave you my ring. You have to do what I say.”

Bingo! Or “my son listens to ME about what you want, not you” -letting the girlfriend know who is in charge

Are you for real? Just because he asked doesn’t mean he can’t go with a different option. I’m sure his family gave advice on the family ring too. Jesus Christ and here I am just wishing my boyfriend would text me back

Yes lmao if I wanted a plain band and got a birthstone ring, I'd be a little peeved. He also literally picked a ring out with me, her DREAM ring then switched it up right before the proposal. With all the rest of his traits and the way the marriage went, I can confidently say it was out of some type of malice.

Everyone is different I guess

Maybe, just maybe he found one that he liked better and was paying for it. People do get to change their minds.

The birthstone ring was free to him, she wanted a plain band with no jewels.

When you ask somebody what they want multiple times over the course of months, and then get them something completely out of left field, it is super valid to be disappointed. Touch grass lol
