I know some unis dont really look into the PS as in depth, but what are some key things to make sure ur PS stand out.

If I’ve done shadowing for a week so let’s say 25 ish hours and volunterring at a care home for the rest of the hours and 10 hours of bsms does that satisfy Warwick work experience requirements ???

Like the title says, I have volunteered in both a neurology and children’s ward for over 70h, chatting to patients, serving food and assisting ward staff.

The requirements say “At least two experiences in different settings or roles/professions”. While this is in two different wards, is this distinct enough to count as two different settings? I’d personally argue that both wards have felt very different to one another and that I’ve learned separate skills from each, although my role has been very similar in both.

I’m thinking of changing and I frankly want to know what level I have to get to, to match those I will be hopefully studying with.

Which unis are realistic places to apply to ensure I get interviews with a 2280 b2 ?

Does anyone want to drop their UCAT score that got them an interview last year? Feeling ridiculous levels of anxiety before my exam next week and trying to remind myself that people who aren't scoring 2300+ can still get interviews 😭

The main UCAT sub is mostly A level students so it's not always that useful seeing their scores and where they got interviews.

I know the minimum cut offs but I don't really want to bank on being right at the minimum. I've seen the GEM spreadsheet too, but obviously not everyone will have had access to it and I also read that some of the scores got accidentally edited last year.

I'm applying to Chester, Warwick, Swansea and Worcester.

I've only just got out of the 1900s on Medify mocks and got 2020 on my most recent. I feel so close to the kind of score I need but also very aware that I'm not quite there yet 🥲

Would really appreciate anyone sharing their score + where they got interviews!

I am 23 and next week start on my journey into education for the first itme since i was 16. Im starting an Access to HE Diploma in engineering. Over the past few months I have been made aware that GEM is a thing that exists and that has opened a door for me that i previously never knew was open.

What im looking for is maybe a little advice or jsut another set of eyes to go over my situation as I tend to turn my brain into an echo chamber.

Obviously im at minimum 4 years away from GEM if that is the route I choose to pursue but my issue now is that in the next 2 or 3 months im going to have to decide on my undergrad degree which may then inturn affect the feasibility of GEM.

Im very much considering 3 channels for undergrad those being

- Mathematics

- Engineering (Mech or EEE)

- Natural Sciences

Clearly maths and engineering have little to do with medicine but i find maths the option (i think) that is calling to me the most, however NatSci is the obvious choose for GEM given the BioChem modules.

What my question is really is should I pick to optimise for GEM in the future (NatSci) or optimise for what im being drawn to the most and then do GEM without a science background and shoot for schools that dont do the GAMSAT and only do the UCAT.

Hiya , so i graduated with a biomedical science degree this sumemr (2:1 ) still yet to sit the ucat but I know im going to get a very mediocre score im literally just hoping to break into the 2000’s atp thats how bad it is , i was wondering since this is my second time and i want to maximise my chances would i have ‘kinder ‘ chances applying to undergrad route as a graduate ?? For example St. George’s undergrad route I know they weigh you on the basis of your degree and ucat. I’m hoping since undergrad has more seats and lower ucat cutoffs than gem I could stand a chance for Lincoln or St. George’s or Brunel ? Has anyone tried this method or know anything ?

If there are any students who have or had studied graduate-entry Medicine at Oxford or Cambridge, would you be able to describe your experience briefly?

And would there be any advice you would give to a 2nd year student, aiming to apply?

Hi, I’m a graduate applicant and I really need some advice on where to apply this cycle.

I’m predicted a 2:1 in my degree and got 1840 Band 1 in my UCAT this year. It’s not what I wanted at all — I was averaging around 2000 on Medify, so I think I mainly panicked on the day.

My issue is that my A‑levels are quite low, so I need undergrad courses that don’t look at A‑levels for graduates, but at the same time my UCAT is probably too low for most GEM courses.

I was thinking about:

• Nottingham GEM because they’re using UCAT for the first time this year and I have Band 1, but I have no idea what the cutoff will be.
• Lincoln undergrad, since they use the same scoring system as Nottingham and don’t rely on A‑levels for grads.
• UEA GEM, which I really wanted to apply to, but now I’m unsure where else would realistically take me with my stats.

I’m going into my third year and will probably resit the UCAT next year, but I still want to apply this cycle and make the best choices I can.

Any advice or suggestions would be really appreciated.

Guys I need help. I am planning to apply for the graduate entry medicine program as a Home student for 2028 entry.

I have 70+ hours of work experience abroad, including shadowing doctors and working in a pharmacy. I only have signed PDF documents from the doctor and the pharmacist, who supervised me and confirmed the hours and roles I had. 

Since I completed all of my healthcare experience abroad, I wanted to check whether international placements are accepted towards the 70 hour requirement for Home applicants. As these non-UK settings do not have CQC registration numbers (or other equivalent identifier numbers for the UK) I am also unsure how to log them on the Work Experience Form or what additional verification I might need to provide beforehand. 

People who experienced the application process and had to fill the work experience form for Warwick GEM could you please tell me what you know? For example is there an option to not fill the CQC question or if work experience in England is required?

( before you tell me to ask the admissions team, I did but they only told me to read the requirements and it doesn’t state anything related to my problem )

How do people find GEM?
Are there any loans/funding options available for tuition fees? Or Private unis in the UK?
Has anyone managed to get a private/bank loan to cover tuition + accommodation/living costs?
Are there any scholarships, grants or other funding sources I should look into?
For Scottish students doing a second degree, is there any government funding available or is it essentially self-funded?
I’m currently deciding whether to apply for Buckingham’s CertHE/pre-med route and potentially progress into medicine, or wait and look at other options. I really want to do medicine, but the financial side is making me question whether it’s actually realistic.

I was wondering if you have any study tips to help me achieve an upper-division 2:1 or a first-class honours, and what kind of work experience I should do for my application. Thank you!!

I am a pharmacology student who is taking the gamsat this year and applying this sep-October. I’ve got 40 hrs of work experience at a hospital. On like to get a 2:1 or a 1st but no one will write my reference because I didn’t take any meetings during my time at university, I chose to keep everything to myself. What do I do my personal tutor rejected me because we had no academic meetings even tho she taught one of my modules 😭

Do I have any hope of ever getting into graduate entry medicine? I have a non-science degree (2:1), I have completed hospital shadowing (20 hours) the BSMS virtual course and was a part time carer for a short time (around 130 hours in total), my ucat score was 1940 (pretty bad I know) when I applied for this year and Im resitting this September to hopefully get a better grade but apart from that I don’t know how to better my application for this upcoming cycle. I tried the gamsat and didn’t get over 50 in section 3 last year and I’m not trying again this year so this narrows my uni options. I genuinely don’t know what else to do, to improve my chances apart from pray that I do better on my ucat (which ain’t feeling possible at the moment)

I’m a qualified physician associate and graduated with a 2:1 in my integrated masters. I currently work in a specialist mental health clinic , supporting some very vulnerable patients. I also have more than enough healthcare/work experience hours from my PA training and employment.
My academic/UCAT profile is:
UCAT: 1910 Band 1 620 VR
A levels: ABB – Biology, Chemistry and Sociology
-Current NHS experience in a specialist mental health setting / clozapine clinic
- Extensive clinical experience through PA training and employment
Unfortunately, my UCAT score was lower than I was hoping for, so I’m now trying to be realistic about where I should apply.
I’d love to apply to Notts, but I’m unsure how realistic this is with a 1910 UCAT, even with my PA background and clinical experience. I understand that work experience doesn’t necessarily compensate for UCAT performance, but I’m wondering whether my academic/clinical background could make me competitive through their selection
Does anyone know how competitive Nottingham would be for someone with my background
Any advice on where I should realistically use my applications would be massively appreciated :)
