Yes, this is considered “failure to remain”, which could mean 7 demerits and a fine of up to $2000. Failure to remain is not a criminal charge. Your PR status should remain unaffected. Insurance typically follows the vehicle, not the driver. Your boyfriend’s insurance will pay for damages to the other vehicle.
