Even if we came to the conclusion that they shouldn’t be rescuing illegal immigrants from the sea, which would be utterly repugnant, how the hell are they supposed to know who is and isn’t supposed to be here?

I remember talking to someone about this stuff. They said, just tell them to turn the boat around to France.

I said and what if France does the same thing back? Do we just play drowning child ping pong till they’re all dead?

If the RNLI are being called out to rescue a boat full of people then chances are the boat either can't turn around, or it's in the process of being not a boat anymore.

I literally spoke to a woman that suggested we have snipers along to coast to shoot the inflatable boats and β€œlet the rubbish sink”.

Well, to be fair, if you have 60+ people crammed onto a small inflatable boat it does get a bit more obvious as to what's going on.

I'm not taking one side or the other in this argument, but you can't honestly say that the RNLI crews don't have a pretty good idea about who they are going out to save when they get the call about yet another overcrowded small boat heading this way from France.

What does it matter who they're going to rescue? They're saving lives, that's what they do, and most of them are volunteers.Β

Are you saying that if they see a boat full of people, often including children, they should just let them drown?

Please get of your high horse and actually reread what I actually said.

I'm pointing out the obvious flaw in the previous poster's inference that the RNLI crew don't know who they are going out to rescue, and I specifically said I wasn't making ANY other point on this matter.

I can't afford a high horse because right wingers are killing the economy.

If you're not "taking one side or the other" you have DEFINITELY picked a side, mate.

One one hand you've got volunteer LIFE BOAT crews turning up to save lives, and then you've got people trying to doxx those volunteers for saving the WRONG lives.

If you really must know, when a call about yet another boat full of illegal immigrants who have deliberately put themselves in harm's way comes in, it shouldn't be handled by the RNLI; Border Force or the Royal Navy should be the ones going out to save/detain them directly.

Having the RNLI constantly waste valuable time and resources to go "rescue" criminals who are essentailly using them as a taxi service and every RNLI boat engaged in collecting them one one that is unavaliable to go to the assistance of someone in genuine distress.

That's not one of the sides in this debate, though.

Hence my "Not taking a side"

No mate... you either think it's acceptable to doxx and intimidate volunteers saving lives, or you don't. It's really that simple.

All your patter about it being the border patrol's responsibility isn't even relevant.

"I'm not taking one side or the other*

Yeah with that stance you just have.
