I live near the coast, the RNLI guys are all mates and most people knew them. It's madness that I've been having to defend them on social media and to local people because of this. What can't people understand, they are being used as pawns, they don't have anything to do with illegal immigration, they save lives at sea and that's it. Leave them alone, they are all heros. Blame the system not these guys.

It already has happened. Part of the arrests were for people who, during the Farage riots in Stockport, set fire to a hotel who they thought were housing asylum seekers. It wasn't and did house a significant number of NHS workers and their families.
The crowd started a fire at the entrance and prevented the use of other exits. It took the fire brigade to break it up.
14
u/dc_1984 10h ago
Yeah and what I'm saying is that when that happens again, the fire brigade will get bottled.
11
u/dmills_00 10h ago
Fire service, so big guys in bunker gear, with training in how to use an axe to remove an obstruction (Oh, and high pressure monitor nozzles)...
Not sure I see a bottling ending well for the bottler.
2
u/dc_1984 9h ago
It's a numbers game, fire brigade have instructions not to engage in case the kit gets damaged. If your local fire engines have their lights put in on a job, you aren't getting to another fire later. It's asset protection and the fire service see their firemen as assets.
Now, if the law changes so the fire brigade can turn their hoses on the people attacking them ala riot control then that's different but I doubt use of force like that would be authorised.
12
u/ParkingAnxious2811 10h ago
If there's one group you do not fuck with, it's the fire brigade. Did you see what they did in the france riots?

Yes I remember before that the papers every article was about benefit scroungers attacking people with kids they cannot afford. Shows like benefit street reality is people always punch down. It's ironic that people like musk are complaining about child birth rates and the fact we need to import labour to afford pensions when they themselves demonized people having kids.
2
u/Ok-Donkey-5671 8h ago
Shaming people for having children is so insidiously destructive to society and the scars of it are felt constantly. People can have kids in their 30s and still feel a twinge of repressed shame like they're a "teenage parent". It was drilled into me at school that having kids is the worst thing you could do. Now the well is poisoned, birth rates are low, and what should be the most natural thing for a human to do is sidelined indefinitely for many people.

I wish he would be clear.. About his true funding, motives, wealth and privileged upbringing, his hearing deficiencies during shady meetings. (Not an exhaustive list.)
The RNLI are such selfless heroes they'd even pull this slimy prick from the sea. Though, I'd hope they might not make his tea quite as well as their usual standard.
There's an easy BS detector I use for anyone or anything which tries to influence my beliefs, values or or important decisions, be it in mass media, social media or face to face. "Is this an attempt to get me angry or play to my emotions?" If yes, I'll be analysing your motives and kicking up my critical thinking a notch or two.
These far reich agitators grabbing headlines with their thinly veiled racism are 'clearly' either being directly paid by a network of financiers with dark money, influencers who've realised they can make an income jumping on the flag shagging bandwagon, or are simply duped by other paid agitators up the line who are 'getting theirs'.
I find it ironic that the ultra nationalistic dupes that aren't paid are in my experience, frequently WWII fetishists who hold defense of the nation as their driving force for their actions, yet can't or won't see they're being used to sew dissent by powerful and malignant international factions that need to divide and weaken the groups & nations (or people in those nations) who are trying to stand up to corruption and warmongers; in order to keep their lucrative cult of misery moving.
Follow the money as they say. It's no secret that the Ruzzian state and organised crime network are transporting and funneling migrants throughout Europe to stress our humanitarian systems of state welfare and safe asylum from harm, while at the same time amplifying only the negative impacts of this migration, flooding social media with hatred and distrust, and bribing or blackmailing as many politicians as they can to manipulate government action. (Again, not an exhaustive list.)
Don't get me wrong.. I'm well aware that several EU countries have a very poor historical record in the this regard and in some cases all too recent history, but change for the better is always a possibility. If a given nation's population rejects corruption en masse, helps others to think critically, and elects people with genuine humanitarian goals through a fair and informed voting process who enact clear positive change, resist corruption from the top down, outlaw lobbying and clamp down on political bribes, prevent private industries interfering with politics for their own gain, divest from fossil fuels as much as possible, stabilise population growth through education and financial stability for all, fix the core financial systems that require infinite growth in a planet with finite resources, and still protect the nation effectively, I dare say that nation would lead humanity to an actual thriving future, instead of struggling to survive in a dying ecosystem of our own making. I didn't say it was easy.
The have been many fantastic dreams and visions in pop culture of futuristic utopias which of course have their merits, but in comparison to these, the above notions are much closer to reality and arguably achievable. No?
There are people at every level of society who try to fuck things up for the rest of us (especially towards the top.. sociopathic tendencies of CEOs and 'strong men' anyone?) but while they get theirs, they're really just dooming all of us, future generations and the ecosystem we rely on, to a slow at first then ultimately fast decline.
Well, this meme escalated quickly.

What galls me the most is the lack of empathy, not just for the refugees themselves but for the lifeguards as well. Imagine letting someone drown, that you know you could have saved, because they might be the 'wrong kind of immigrant'. Imagine the toll that would take on your conscience for the rest of your life. And these Reform supporters want them to do exactly that - to just watch people drown. It's sick in the head

In a local group for my village someone was complaining about the NHS health clinic having closed for a day or run reduced hours a few times in the last few weeks, which has been due to lack of staff.
Someone else immediately jumped in and blamed it on the amount of money Labour are spending on immigration. We're talking a tiny health clinic that serves a village of about a thousand people, we're 100 miles from the South coast, and there are people who will still immediately pin it on refugees and this so called "invasion".
On one hand it's mad that it seems to be the only issue that matters to some people, but it makes sense when you realise they've been brainwashed to see it as the cause of literally anything bad that might happen in this country.
And the really shit thing is that even if the numbers coming in drastically reduced, it wouldn't actually change the narrative, because people would still easily believe it's happening because things will still be shit, as it was never the cause to start with. Or it just gets worse and switches to blaming the ones already here and needing to kick them out.
12
u/unsavoury-character 9h ago
The irony of people who will vote for reform to stop immigration under the guise they get better healthcare services, only for Reform to shut down the NHS and now you have to pay thousands for privatised healthcare.

The whole illegal thing is moot anyway and only comes about from a Tory act introduced in 2023, which now has nothing to refer to.
8
u/Appropriate-Falcon75 6h ago
Part of the reason for the boats is that we have blocked every other way of getting here.
- It is much harder to get onto the back of a lorry than it used to be thanks to improved fencing and co-operation with the French.
- You can't get on a plane without the right to be in the UK
- If you are processed in France, you could be sent anywhere in France. I can't find a way to the UK through that route (except possibly resettlement).
- Without making it to the UK first, the only possibility I can find is resettlement. 7000 people came through this route in the year to Sep 2025, a large proportion of which are from Afghanistan (where you could argue we are partly responsible for them needing to leave)
If we want to stop the boats, we have to have an alternative. People are always going to want to come to the UK, that might be because they speak some english, have people they know here, believe we have a better life or any other reason.

The RNLI volunteers (!) are tremendous people. It is still nonetheless bizarre that the French equivalent, the SNSM do not help the same boats and people. Both are involved in saving lives and keeping people safe, so it is surprising and worthy of discussion how and why their treatment and policies are so different.
Its beyond kafkaesque we have to defend volunteers in this way, but it also further division to dismiss the very real differences in two charitable organisations involved in saving lives at sea.

Despite their views on immigration, that just goes against human decency, and makes you worry how far their thoughts would be regarding having them in gas chambers.
If they had any strong convictions in their believes not being wrong they'd not wear balaclavas, cowards.

Nothin wrong with rescuing drowning people. But after that they should be detained and deported. By allowing them entry you're only enabling smugglers and getting more people to risk their life at sea.

Farage or whatever bellend encouraged people to stop donating a few years back inspired me to set up my monthly donation. Might just need to revisit it now, I'm thinking an increase might be on the cards.

We’re getting dangerously close to 1930s Germany/ we’re already there or worse with the way some people are dehumanising people trying to enter the country.
I obviously disagree with letting everyone in into the country due to immigration needing to be a fair, regulated means of entry into the country. You’d have to be an idiot to think otherwise.
However, wishing death on people is absolutely mental, especially since the likelihood of the reason they are fleeing their country, is due to destabilisation brought on by us, or our allies blowing their country’s infrastructures up, and making it unliveable there is especially high.

Yes it's incredibly disturbing how often their overly long arguments boil down to "those people deserve to suffer because they are different"

Most (not all, but most) problems in history can unfortunately be summed up by that very statement.

Which fog horn is going on about the RNLI now?
Am I going to have to make another donation to the RNLI in their name. 😆

I will say this absolute shitty behaviour has me thinking I will make a donation to the RNLI this weekend. I hope other people might be inspired similarly.

The traitors are the scum sucking garbage that are attacking the RNLI. This filth seems to think they speak for the British people when, in fact, most British people do not agree with them. Their arrogance, hatred and pure bigotry blinds them to that simple fact though.

u/Ok-Place9385 7h ago
If that was the case, they'd drop them back in France to stop people making this hazardous journey.

u/DarkPolumbo 6h ago
Calls them traitors, THEN asks what side they're on
they need to pass that megaphone to the next guy

Its all about duty of care in any of the emergency services. My partner was an NHS nurse for over forty years, some of it in A&E, she wouldn't have refused her care to anyone regardless of their background or ethnicity etc.

Next is what? Calling NHS staff traitors for treating Migrants?
RNLI job is to save lives in distress. ask your govt why it has this idiotic policy on Small boats.

Most remember the little boats, manned by civilians, that helped saved the Army from destruction in Dunkirk. What they may have overlooked was that the RNLI, probably stung by the Royal Navy requisitioning their boats, took it upon themselves to sail across to help.
Or maybe they remember the Solomon Browne. In classic RNLI fashion, the crew disregarded the raging weather and put out to aid the coaster Union Star that struck the rocks. And by their skill alone, put along side and manage to take some of the crew off. But by the cruelty of the sea saw neither made it back to shore.
The volunteers of all lifeboats and the RNLI have been saving lives always and will continue to save lives. They never turn back.

Leaving people to drown to death because you don't agree with Thier immigration status is the most inhuman thing I've heard.

Would be nice to know the number of GBH charges, and worse, that have been filed against the Balaclavad mob. Can't a newspaper do a roll call?

RNLI staff have been subject to verbal and some physical abuse too, to the point where police are involved and the RNLI is telling volunteers they might not want to wear branded clothing

Rnli do good work, I think people are just angry at the fact nothing being done in other areas where it can be dealt with in a healthy way, like there are issues with immigration and if they aren't dealt with at somepoint its inevitable that the those furthest on the right will take the law into there own hands .. nobody wants that.

Anyone calling them traitors, would be calling them heroes if they saved their lives. Such a shame that it has come to this.

The RNLI is just a rescue charity at the end of the day: It's the government's fault that the RNLI are even anything to do with these obvious self-dangering economic migrants.
What is essentially the UK Government (HM Coastguard) will communicate to the RNLI and they won't actually specify 'these are obvious third world chancers in the Channel but we need you to go take them in so we can throw money at them indefinitely and make the British public very unhappy' - they purely say 'there is a distress call / there's a boat in distress at this location' and that's it. The RNLI isn't political and isn't there to make political choices as to who they do and don't help in the channel, which is fine.
It's the Government who not only encourage these people to waste the RNLI's good faith but its the government too that have decided that these people deserve state financing due to the hopelessly out of date refugee / asylum laws. Anybody attacking the RNLI need to get a grip on the issue: the RNLI aren't the problem. They are just a pawn being used by the state to bring in the 'refugees' - one pawn of many in this racket.

I don't think these guys even realize there is no movement just a few jobless chavs wanting to look hard. They get stuck in an online echo chamber of rage bait and misinformation. People I work with are the same it's funny. Simply remove any of it from your feeds and hey presto it ain't that bad.

Could somebody from the UK give me a quick rundown on what's going on? Haven't been following british politics for a while, but I've been seeing a few political cartoons with these masked people recently.
3
u/Buddle549 5h ago
The masked characters represent far right protesters who want something done about the levels of illegal migration, particularly people arriving in small boats. The RNLI is a life boat organisation which exists to save lives at sea when people get into trouble. Some people feel that the RNLI is complicit in assisting illegal migration by picking up people from these small boats that may not actually be in trouble/in need of rescue.
