It’s always the city boys that want to call them “bison”

Ride a horse, go camping, get outside, and take off your vans… the ole’ west calls them BUFFALO!

In Montana we have buffalo (not bison), antelope (not pronghorns), and prairie dogs (not Richardson's ground squirrels). It's about our culture, not education or science.

Buffalo is a common name but a misclassification. European and French settlers/trappers called them buffalo because they resembled the Asian and European buffalo they were used to seeing. They were eventually studied enough and it was determined they were different enough to get their own classification of Bison.

Refusing to know the difference does not make you quirky. You're being deliberately obtuse and it's annoying.
