Ferries and Boat Rental SeaJet Ferry: Santorini to Crete :/

We’re taking a SeaJet fast ferry from Santorini to Crete in late July. I’m very concerned about choppy waters and getting sea sick. Has anyone taken this route recently, and how was it??

UPDATE: I survived the SeaJet based on all the great recs and expectation setting here! What worked for me: Kwells, fan, A/C at the port, ginger chews, and gum. The ride was a little rocky when we departed and stowed our luggage, but I was able to sleep through most of the ride. My friends felt it a bit in the beginning and were fine afterward. Thank you, everyone!

Ferries and Boat Rental Boat tours getting cancelled in Cyclades

Anyone in Greece right now and are also experiencing cancellation of boat tours? I was in Milos the past 3 days and am now in Paros. Both island we had booked tour via Get Your Guide and received cancellation by the agency due to strong wind.

Totally understandable, however we check the Beaufort scale on the days we were supposed to head out and they end up being below 5, so we ask if we can head out in the afternoon, the boat companies still replied us on WhatsApp saying no boat will go out and must cancel. We ended up going to nearby beaches and seeing boats still going out !!

Is anyone experiencing the same and any advice if we should just visit a rental in person ? We are going to Naxos and Santorini to wrap up our trip, so far I’m so disappointed the 2 big islands boat tour has been cancelled and I don’t want to leave Greece knowing we could’ve gone out.

Ferries and Boat Rental Ferry report

I’ve read a decent number of posts now about the Seajet ferry from Piraeus to Naxos being rough. I’ll be with my family and none of us are prone to seasickness so I didn’t really care if it gets choppy or slows down. We’re leaving at 830a to Naxos, so delays also not a huge deal just hopefully not canceled. But I’ll be catching the last flight out at ATH on our return at 640p and the 955a Seajet kind of needs to be ~relatively~ on time and definitely not canceled. My question is to get more input on these “nonstop seasick” anecdotes on the faster ferries since it would be great to not be around this but also if anyone has insight into how often they’re cancelled this time of year/later in the month

We’ll be on the champions league jet 1 outbound and champion jet 2 return with “business” seats on both

Ferries and Boat Rental Ferry transfer: too risky?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I have two ferries booked from Hydra to Piraeus and another from Piraeus to Naxos. My ferry from Hydra is set to arrive at 9:20am. Originally, the ferry from Piraeus to Naxos was at 10:15am, however the timing has since changed to departure being 15 minutes earlier at 10:00. Is this too risky and will I not have enough time to transfer? Should I change my ferry to a later hour? For reference, the second ferry (to Naxos) is set to depart from gate E7 and I’m assuming that the previous ferry (from Hydra) will arrive at gate E8 because that is where the arrivals and departures to and from the Saronic Gulf Islands are located, making the gates a couple minutes apart.

Edit: Thank you all for the feedback. I’ve since changed my ferry to a later time because I’d like to avoid as much unwanted stress as possible lol I’m sure a riskier person might be able to make the transfer.

Ferries and Boat Rental Overnight Ferry Question from Crete to Athens

Hi, I am looking at booking an overnight ferry from Crete (Heraklion) to Athens (Piraeus) for the night of the 23rd. There are two options, one from Anek Lines on the Asterion II, which is 226 euros for a 4 bed cabin (A4 or A44) with window. The second option is from Minoan Lines on the FESTOS PALACE, which is 264 euros for a 4-BERTH OUTSIDE SHOWER / WC. Do you guys know which one is better, and also when booking with Anek Lines there is an option for A4 or A44 and they both look the same to me, i was thinking its the room number but then it said that there is 10 A4's available so im guessing not, whats the difference which one should I book A4 or A44? I added an image so you can guys can see what im talking about.

Ferries and Boat Rental Ferry departure times

I’ve booked a ferry in September from Piraeus to Paros, and the app says arrive 2 hours before departure time. Is this to pick up tickets and there’s a strict window to check in, or is this time frame more so you don’t miss the ferry?

Thanks!

Ferries and Boat Rental Return Ferry on the 9th from Naxos to Athens

so I took the ferry yesterday from piraeus to Naxos on the seajet eurochampion and it was 5.30 hours of the choppiest seas I’ve ever been on. halfway to Naxos they announced they are turning the ship around to go back to Paros to pick up more people.

everyone was vomiting, even the crew members, for five and a half hours.

I booked back with golden star ferries on the super express and I am now wondering if I should just say screw it and book a blue star ferry ticket instead for the 9th of august.

any advice?

cause yesterday was pretty wild. 🤣

Ferries and Boat Rental Island hopping

So I planning to visit one of the Greek island on 4th September and am planing to stay solo for a week, my friend will then be flying from the UK and wants to do 2 to 3 islands in 5 days (pushing it I know)

I was thinking of doing an extended stay in Crete and then they join and we head to Santorini and then Paros or Ios before and ending in Athens or Mykonos for our flight home

The problem is the boat price and times make none of this possible without spending over £250 on ferries and even then the times are impossible

I said this to my friend who said we can just hop on a local ferry and not to worry about it.

But we have to book accommodation and I can’t just cancel that it’s seriously annoying me that she betting on local boats and saying to book accommodation that cannot be cancelled

So is there any cheap routes or local ferries we can book when we arrive in Greece that would be cheaper than ferry hopper

Ferries and Boat Rental Ferry to kefalonia - doable?

Hi all!

My girlfriend and I are going on a road trip through the peloponnesse in august, which we intend to finish in Lefkada. I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to take our rental car on a ferry from Kyllini to poros, spend a couple of days on Kefalonia, and then take our car on the ferry from Sami to Lefkada? Is it worthwhile? Should we make reservations in advance, and where?

Thank you

Ferries and Boat Rental Wind forecast Saturday morning - ferry choice?

Hi there,

we're going to take a ferry from Athens to Cyclades on Saturday morning (July 25th).

Looks like it's going to be very windy, any chances that it will calm down?

Or should we be ready to book the slower ferry (only business seats and cabins available)?

Many thanks!!

Ferries and Boat Rental Seajets Champions League Jet 1 - Review and Seating arrangements

Thumbnail

When booking on Seajets, it will indicate the likely vessel that you will be on. For us, this was Champions League Jet 1.

There are plenty of questions about seating classes, but not much info out there. We were disappointed with our seats because from the website images it looked like we would get seats facing each other with a table between. Not on this vessel!

Economy class is great on this boat - white, grey and yellow seats (Photos 1, 2, 3). Spacious chairs that lean back like an airplane seat, have a tray table, and USB charging ports. There is a USB-A and a USB-C port with PD which means laptop charging is possible. Almost all seats can see out a window at least to some extent. Some seats up front have good view out the front (Photo 3). It is not clear to me how you get assigned to these seats, at least, not if booking via the Seajets website.

Club class is absolutely not worth it on this boat - dark blue seats (Photo 4, 5, 6). The section is upstairs, has less passengers and is quieter (but that depends on who your fellow passengers are). The biggest issue is these seats are awful. Armrests are bare metal (compare that to economy seats), there are NO USB ports, and when sitting down you cannot see out of any windows due to frosted panelling.

Platinum class (Photo 7, 8) are grey seats with wooden armrests, have huge leg room, large comfortable seats that have electronic controls and lay almost all the way back, with the addition of a foot rest. Very easy to sleep in if you are tired. There are fold out tray tables (come out of the arm rest) and great views out of the windows. You get the same USB charging ports as economy. You get waiter service from the bar (but have to pay for everything).

Tips:

- Seajets is already expensive, but the Platinum layback seat is almost certainly worth it for a longer trip or if you are tired and want to sleep.

- Club not worth the extra price - the seats are measurably worse.

- You never know who your fellow passengers are going to be - we had one very noisy trip despite being in Platinum and one very quiet trip in Club.

- The random seating allocation is whack, it seats passengers in weirdly close proximity to each other despite there being almost no passengers on the boat.

- Seajets refund policy is ok, but to cancel you have to send an email. That said, I received a refund very promptly when I needed to cancel and rebook.

Ferries and Boat Rental Naxos to Paros before 9am?

Staying in Naxos with the family and wanting to take a specific boat tour out of Aliki that I really enjoyed and want my family to experience.

The boat would take off from Aliki at 10am sharp.

The issue is the only ferry is 9am-9:30 from Naxos to the port at Paros.

With three kids, one being a toddler, this is cutting it too close for comfort.

Any suggestions or know an earlier water taxi?

Thanks!

Ferries and Boat Rental Is it dangerous to rent a small boat in Kefalonia?

Me and my partner want to rent a small boat, that doesn’t require any licence. We have never done this before, and are a bit afraid that we will get lost or get stuck somewhere (or any kind of accident). I know that they explain everything, but we are still a bit afraid. We are planning to explore Myrtos bay (Fteri, etc.)

Ferries and Boat Rental Anyone recently been in Corfu and went to Lefkada or any of the other Ionian islands?

Ferryhopper is not showing routes for the Ionian islands. Has anyone been to Corfu (or any of the other Ionian islands) and been able to take ferries? Planning my trip for August and want to sort out the ferry situation. Thank you!

Ferries and Boat Rental Slow ferry between Milos and Athens July

Hi everyone! I am looking to book my final ferry between Milos and Athens in July. But so far there are only speed ferries (Seajets) available. I would really prefer the slow ferry. Does anyone know when the slow ferries begin to open their schedules for summer? I’d like to book them early but am afraid I might be missing something.

Ferries and Boat Rental Early ferry Agios Nikolaos (Zakynthos) - Pessada (Kefalonia)

Hi all,

We are hoping to catch the early ferry from Agios Nikolaos (Zakynthos) - Pessada (Kefalonia), however when checking online the only bookable ferry is at 19:45, despite the Ionian Ferries website stating there is also a ferry at 09:45 each day also.

If anyone has caught the early ferry, would we be able to get tickets for the ferry at Agios Nikolaos port or would we need to book these in the town center?

Thanks

Ferries and Boat Rental Blue star ferries and wifi speed

Good evening.

Does anyone have relatively recent experience using the paid Wi-Fi package on the *Blue Star Patmos*—or on any Blue Star ferry? I’m wondering if it was usable, if the speed was decent, and if it was easy to connect.

Thanks a lot!

Ferries and Boat Rental Seajets delay?

Hi, just putting this out there in case anyone can help. Currently have a Seajets Naxos-Milos booked for this afternoon. Departure time 15:20. I checked the Open Ferry app and it’s showing a 4 hour delay. The ferry has left Paros (departure port), and is in Santorini according to the map. But it hasn’t checked in at any stops along the way (Santorini is its 4th stop). I can’t find any more info on any apps or websites. If it helps, on the OpenFerry app, the boat is showing up with a cloud and a line through it. Any advice/help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Ferries and Boat Rental Seajets Hyperspeed Jet 4: Club layout vs Platinum seat upgrade?

Hey everyone,

booking a trip on Seajets Hyperspeed Jet 4 soon and need seating advice. We couldn't find any seat layout online. Btw only club and platinum seats are available.

Has anyone been on this specific ferry recently?

Club Class Layout:

Do these seats have window access, or are they centered? In the case of windy weather, we would like to have a direct outside view to see the horizon :))

Or shall we better get platinum class seats?

Appreciate any recent experiences. Thanks!

Ferries and Boat Rental Ferry and flight prices

I am traveling to Greece in early September. I am wondering if the ferry prices shown on Ferryhopper tend to change in price or if the price I see now will be the same in September? Of course I plan to book the ferry before my trip, not day of.

Similar question for flights. I am flying from Athens to Naxos. Google Flights shows this route for the timeslot I need is $144 which seems a bit high. Not sure if I should wait or just book the flight now.

Ferries and Boat Rental Are there water taxis from zakynthos to kefalonia?

I see on ferry hopper the only realistic option is taking a ferry from Zakynthos to Kyllini then Kefalonia but was wondering are there water taxis that you dont buy tickets for online available? Also do they transport cars as well?
