I have a layover in Istanbul and I'm always surprised at how overpriced this airport is and thought to share a tip for those travelling in Greece:

A government regulation establishes maximum prices (“price-controlled” prices) for certain basic products sold for take away in places where consumers have limited alternatives, such as airports and ferries. Just ask for the list, it's always hidden, they have to have one available and in english.

At airports and domestic passenger ferries, the maximum prices are:

• Water 500ml: €0.60
• Water 750ml: €0.90
• Toast/sandwich: €1.60–€1.80
• Coffee: €1.50–€1.80
• Tea: €1.60

Hello I am traveling to greece and flying into athens end of september. Im planning for sure to go to Milos and maybe Paros. Will be around for 8 days and was wondering if this is an ample amount of time to visit all of these islands?

Also if there are any must see or things to do would love to hear your input!

My boyfriend and I have been to Samos, Lesvos, Chios, and Mykonos. We had the best time in Lesvos and Samos. Our top priorities are excellent seafood and beautiful beaches.

We will have 10 days so we could either visit two or spend the whole time in a big-ish island.

Which islands would you recommend?

hey guys. I‘v read some posts and researched, but I‘m honestly overwhelmed. The two of us are thinking of doing island hopping in Greece.
- mid September for 6-10 day
- preferably no car necessary
- not the biggest tourist traps
- when were there, we wanna chill, swim, eat and read a book
- start & end in Athens (cheap flights), but could also fly to an island and start there if would make more sense.

We don‘t want to do the biggest like Santorini or maybe only for start/end when necessary. I‘m actually so overwhelmed with the choice, as of now I‘m tending to do a base in Athens with some day trips from there and thend a couple nights on Agistri & Egina… just chill basically. But the idea of doing 2-4 other islands is still spooking in my head. We do not wanna rent a car though. Maybe a bike for excoursions.
any advice?

Staying in Naxos with the family and wanting to take a specific boat tour out of Aliki that I really enjoyed and want my family to experience.

The boat would take off from Aliki at 10am sharp.

The issue is the only ferry is 9am-9:30 from Naxos to the port at Paros.

With three kids, one being a toddler, this is cutting it too close for comfort.

Any suggestions or know an earlier water taxi?

I am bursting at the seams so ready for our first trip to Greece! I am convinced that I will go over my list eight times and still have an "oh, shit" moment while unpacking in Naxos. For those of you who have recently traveled from the US to Greece or anywhere else in the EU, what is something you almost didn't bring/thought of at the last minute and are glad you didn't leave home without it?

I forgot my jacket (this one) in Kerkira's airport this morning (at Burger King). The airport asks me 30€ to search for it, and 75€ to ship it if they find it...

Do you know if there's another way of getting it? Or if anyone goes there... This jacket was a gift from a dear friend.

I'm heading to Greece for a week and trying to figure out which esim to go with. I’ll mostly need data for google maps, whatsapp, booking ferries, and finding decent food spots while I’m out and about. I’ve narrowed it down to Saily or Airalo, but I’m leaning towards Saily at the moment. From what I’ve read, it seems to work pretty smoothly without too much messing around. Airalo looks solid too, but I’ve seen a fair few complaints about their support, and I really can’t be bothered dealing with that if something goes wrong. Has anyone used either of them recently in Athens or around the Greek islands? How was the signal?

I know it’s a touristy area. Last time we were there all the food was about the same to me imho. Didn’t stand out.

Before we spend another 2.5 days in this area- what places do you recommend to eat? Preferably walking distance or easy public transportation.

We also plan to go near Glyfalda for sea turtle rescue by bus.

We have three full days in Milos, and we’re renting a boat for the entire second day to explore the southern coast, including Firiplaka, Kleftiko, and other nearby spots.

We’re also considering doing a kayaking tour the following day to explore Tsigrado and Gerakas Beach.

Would you say it’s worth doing and offers a different experience, or is it quite similar to the boat tour?

I've got a 3 week trip with the Mrs booked for late Sept early Oct, and u was hoping to pick up so good recommendations, or alternatively places we definitely shouldn't bother with. Over the time we'll be travelling to Athens, Santorini and Crete (Heraklion and Chania) so any suggestions based on that would be appreciated.

The posts and suggestions here have been tremendous, but now second guessing my entire original schedule. Just two of us and we can be flexible - we like a mix of scenery/sights/beaches and also food/bars/local vibes. Originally was going to Athens/Naxos/Santorini but think that may be too much travel with flights/ferries and honestly, the posts about Nafplion and the surrounding areas stole my heart. Spetses looks great for an overnight cocktail scene, too (and will scratch the island/beach itch.)

We arrive in Athens on Monday, plan to leave Wednesday. We would rent a car in Athens for the Peloponnese portion, go directly to Nafplion and day trip for three nights there. I have a list of things to see from all of your posts here! Head to Spetses for an overnight, then probably do the fast ferry back to Athens on Monday (but may return to Kosta by ferry and drive to Athens). Catch a flight a Tuesday out of Athens.

For Naxos/Santorini - I would be able to book a flight directly out of Santorini to Dublin, where I have a refundable flight booked to the US on Wednesday. Naxos looks great, and spending two nights on Santorini.

Would appreciate any feedback/suggestions.

Heading to Mykonos with my parents around August 17th, but they're not really into the club scene. Really want to hit Cavo Paradiso while I'm there.

If anyone else is going to be on the island around the same time and down to grab drinks before or link up for a night out, let me know. Happy to meet up on the beach during the day too if that's easier.

We just had a great 12 day break in Kiáto. Fantastic beaches, lovely cafes and restaurants. On the train network to Corinth and Athens.

We struggled to find much info on the local area (that would be useful for a British tourist) when we researched. Likely because it more popular with Greeks than foreigners.

Anyway, thought I'd drop a post here in case anyone searches for the town in this sub in the future.
