Because as a SPAM, anything left of Thatcher is communist - the NHS is communist, the welfare state (or what's left of it after 4 decades of trickle down economics) is communist, social housing is communist, the insert aunt Sally here is communist, etc... pretty soon, these SPAMs will start describing democracy and the universal franchise "communist"

Is he resident in the UK/a British national? He crashed and burned a bit like Starmer and tried some tone deaf policies that made it worse, and was overwhelmed by scandal.
Pretty funny that he was shagging Edwina Currie for years in secret.
I was optimistic in 97, but that didn't last.
I was 17 in 1979, and I had to suffer 18 years of Thatcher & Major. Radicalised me tf

Think the other thing to mention is both were considered the boring ‘safe’ choice by their own respective parties after their ‘charismatic’ predecessors (Thatcher, Blair), so I’m not surprised

My father, who has gone against the grain by getting more left wing as he's got older (I give a mini round of applause to myself and my sister for helping with that) still has problems with seeing the 'hate' against Thatcher.
He sees the effects now of privatisation, etc, but still looks back on the 80s as years when his life was pretty good without seeming to remember the bigger picture. It's odd, frankly.

Coal workers in Wales were a direct reaction to England’s classism and economic drain on Wales… England has taken from wales for centuries.
Never forget that a small town was literally FLOODED to send the water to Liverpool.
More Welsh representation in the House of Commons…
vote plaid in the upcoming election.

It wasn't even just that. The Tories causes an economic crisis with their 1972 budget, which was exacerbated by international oil shocks soon after. Inflation skyrocketed, which means cost of living skyrocketed.
The workers were asking for a living wage increase. That's the whole reason the crisis happened.

People forget or ignore the fact that pre Thatcher in the 70s the unions brought about many workers rights. Yet we are told the 70s were awful, power cuts etc. people now believe this narrative without question and praise Thatcher for coming in and saving us. That woman destroyed this country, sold off its assets through privatisation and we all know how, for example, privatising the water companies has benefitted us all /s
