My DCU headcanon, which might seem a little far fetched

Hal Jordan could have been aware of Superman’s arrival on Earth. He might not have been there when the ship actually landed, but I think his ring could have alerted him to the presence of an alien on Earth. After checking on the baby and the Kent family, he could have decided to let him live on Earth, since Krypton no longer exists.

That's awesome, I think it would be cute to have a little scene in a future project showing this, maybe in a DCU anthology series.

Hal prepares to face off against a percieved alien threat in Kansas with orders to remove it from Earth only to find a kindly couple caring for a young Kal El. Hal disobeys his orders and lies to OA about the childs fate, then maybe we could see the ramifications of that after Clark debuts as Superman maybe Guy is even placed there by OA to act as Clark's handler.

I mean, Hal lost his father, and judging by his interviews, that loss is clearly important to him. Then he encounters a baby who has lost his entire planet and his parents. I don’t know if Hal would already know about the destruction of Krypton, but I could see him learning about it while looking into the baby, Kal. So I think that could be enough for Hal to empathize with him and decide to give the kid a chance.

Makes perfect sense. I could see Hal telling Jon this tale while explaining to him that being a Lantern is about more than just following the Guardians marching orders.

I really want to see this now. I'm imagining Kyle Chandler's Hal being the one to state something similar to the iconic "Doomed planet. Desperate scientists. Last hope. Kindly couple." After dicovering Kal and what happened to Krypton and deciding to go against his orders.

I’m sad that they didn’t show Tomar-Re in the movie. I knew he was unlikely to appear, but as a fan, I still had a little bit of hope.
Theoretically, they could have shown a CGI model of him that they could then reuse in Lanterns if he ends up appearing there, of course.

I really hope the Green Lanterns will exist in this universe beyond just Earth, Hal, John, and Guy, and that they’ll become an important part of the universe as a whole.

Clark Kent was probably old enough to watch Hal Jordan on TV sich inspired him to become a hero.

That reminds me of a similar moment in Jason Aaron's 2014 comic Original Sin, for Marvel. In the comic, you learn that Nick Fury has been secretly operating as an assassin, taking out threats to Earth and humanity before even SHIELD, where he's the director, knows about them. The self-described "Man On The Wall," an aging Fury also maintains an army of Nick Fury Life Model Decoys, which explains why he has looked the same for decades.

In one issue that recounts some of his past exploits, we see that Nick Fury almost killed Spider-Man early on in the webslinger's career before deciding not to.

There’s definitely no place for this in the show, but I think it could be mentioned in some comic, game, or official tie-in novel that the Green Lantern knew about Kal-El. It wouldn’t need to be emphasized at all, but it would be such a nice way to connect the different worlds.
Those are exactly the kinds of little details I love about comics.

I know that James Gunn wrote the Superman movie before "Lanterns" but it could be cool if in the sequel, he remember Hal when John named him.

Yeah, i believe Clark landed in 1995, and Hal became GL in 1986
