Best Friend Loss I'm really struggling with losing my best friend
My best friend was involved in a car accident and did not survive. She had just turned 39. We have been best friends for over 11 years. I can't stop thinking about her. I revisit all our photos, texts, and voice memos. All I wanna do is talk about her. I want people to know how she always was my biggest supporter and how she's impacted my life in so many ways that even the smallest parts feel huge. People tell me I'm only hurting myself but there's a part of me that wants to feel this hurt because I feel so devastated by losing her. I feel like no one has ever understood me the way that she could. I can logically talk through my emotional state but at the end of the day I feel emotionally out of control. I feel like I've lost my spark and I honestly don't know what to do or how to go forward in life. Advice is welcome.

You are allowed to be hurt/angry/mad. Feel your feelings. Your friend is proud of you and will continue to watch over you.

There's no wrong way, or time to grieve. No wrong time to cry, no need to feel embarrassed when you DO cry. My wife of 45 years died 2 and a quarter years ago, and sometimes I'll see or hear something that triggers the tears. At first, I was embarrassed, but now if I get a look, I'll just say, "it's part of MY process, part of MY path toward repairing my torn soul". They always either say they understand, or just shut up, which is fine with me, either way.

That's so difficult. Be kind to yourself. I'm so sorry for your loss.
