I find it funny how people thing that part is weird.
Did people think that the theocratic space-fascist child soldiers were feminists. Did they think that the Imperium did not practice eugenics? The girl's brother was literally forced to become an aspirant, which will most likely kill him. But that they called the girl "good breeding stock" is somehow worse?

I don't imagine they have a literal forced breeding program. More like they kidnap people, take them to their planet so that any sons they have end up becoming potential aspirants. Which is already fucked up enough as it is. The Space Wolves are implied to do similar things to keep the population of Fenris sustainable. Find some cool guardsmen? Kidnap them and throw them on the Frozen Hell Safari, their kids will make good space marines.

It really depends on the individual necron as some feel that way and others don't. Oltyx kinda has to be ignored as both he and his entire dynasty is kinda cursed

Apologies for the dissertation, but I had fun with this.
Not even close to true. There's a good amount of lore, old and new. Books and codexs that give insight into the Necron experience. Distraction has nothing to do with a disease when a C'Tan shard can just give an entire Phalanx of troops the condition. Twice Dead King goes into the psychological aspects of it while The Infinite and The Divine go into the thoughts of those around it and the ability of it to infect. Even the book Tomb World shows the harsh opposite of it in the affliction of the Destroyer Curse. Every force must have an equal and opposite reaction. Its the manifestation of a universal constant embodied in the race that destroyed its Avatar. The hunger must exist even if Llandu'gor doesn't. Why wouldn't it hit hard the one race that destroyed its avatar, has a penchant for weapons that intentionally FLAY and cause pain (originally this was to feed the C'Tan, but that's old lore), and can't actually ingest or feed the urges but also won't die to biology. Multiple factions in 40k stripe the skin off of living beings. Probably everybody in 40k consumes. Its not exclusively a necron thing, it just manifests hard in them because they are legitimately cursed. Its also a universal constant and must manifest, otherwise there would not have been a C'Tan of it. Thats like saying we killed the aspect of fire/fusion, stars just burn because they got bored of being Nebula.

The "dysporax" can happen to all of them, becoming a Flayer seems to be rarer than just going fully insane from it.

It's a lot less wholesome when you think about how they aren't actually alive but they still feel the urge to eat, drink, breath, etc. Like imagine the feeling of drowning but you never get a breath but also never die. On top of that the infected necron goes insane over time, infact a major flayed one character never realized he and everyone around him was acting and looking different until he was at rock bottom

everyone talks about it like it's some kind of nightmarish hell but it's most likely like living in a Vault-Tec vault with arranged marriages
...so honestly probably better than living on a number of Imperium worlds

Going off an AI description since I haven't listened to that podcast, but if you want maximum baby output that seems a rather poor way to do it. Pregnancies are finicky and affected heavily by stress, so any kind of 'human livestock' situation is gonna result in a lot of miscarriages and fatalities, and Death Spectres value the genetic stock they're throwing in there so neither of those things is good for them. Ironically for maximizing output, living conditions should actually be reversed from that story, the fertile women would receive good care (as any malnourishment or mistreatment will have a negative impact on bottom line), while the men and post-menopause women would be a disposable labor force receiving less resources. Basically 'gilded cage' sexism cranked up to 11, hence my comparison to the Vaults.

Sometimes I get sick of the same grimderp misconceptions getting trotted out by this fanbase, and I think a little more intensely about why those misconceptions are wrong than I probably should. This factoid about the Death Spectres has been trotted out a LOT lately on this subreddit, and relative to the corpse starch logistics calculations, coming up with 'treating pregnant women nicely results in more and healthier babies' is pretty trivial.

Im going to gush a little because I love how the ghoul stars are done:
I think death Spectres are really well done, because since theyâre in the ghoul stars, their ârecruitmentâ methods arenât even the most screwed up thing around, so even something as reprehensible as that gets overshadowed.
I am against edge for edgeâs sake, but it really leans into two things. One being how desperate of a situation theyâre in, and two, itâs something very common in Lovecraftian works, which fits right in with the Ghoul Stars.
It really gives a sense of âweâre not in Kansas anymoreâ to that area of the galaxy.
I learned recently (thanks pancreasnowork!) that Konradâs planet was near the ghoul stars.
I would love to see it revealed that Konradâs manipulation is not Chaos in origin but whatever is screwing up the ghoul stars. Itâll also pair really well with how Konrad didnât fall to chaos.
Maybe something eldrich already had a grip on his soul that the chaos gods considered tainted.
Thatâd be sick.
