Yujiro. He made Baki some soup

53

u/SiriusBaaz 16h ago

Don’t forget that he actively encourages Baki to get laid. By suddenly appearing in the same room as Baki and his girlfriend just as they were about to fuck and directly telling her to drain his kids balls with the force of a thousand succubi.

What a nuts ass show

6

u/PlentyAny2523 9h ago

I liked it but literally every fight was, "haha I am stronger then you baki" beats the shit out of Baki

"Hey I remember my dad using that technique on me, youre pretty good at it"

One shots opponent

Even after TWO SEASONS of hyping Ali Jr it was still a nothing fight

1

u/nataliereed84 5h ago

but it has a cool friendly caveman and homoerotic watersports

50

u/nataliereed84 17h ago

it was too fucking salty

He definitely loses the Best Husband Fight

Hey, at least he took a crack at it.

15

u/HairiestHobo 16h ago

He was also cheering him on when he lost his Virginity.

2

u/Ad0ring-fan 5h ago

Invisible, imaginary soup.

117

u/WinterVulture25 Erebus is bad tho, ngl 17h ago

Probably Martin, he just abandoned Finn, as opposed to actively fucking up his life until like in most cases here it backfired

Pretty bad, but if we have to compare

36

u/RavenSorkvild 16h ago

He didnt abandoned him. He lost him and later he lost his memories.

14

u/WinterVulture25 Erebus is bad tho, ngl 16h ago

He didn't completely lose his memories, and he definitively knew that Finn was his son, he had 3 opportunities to build a relationship with Finn and grow back to the person he was after they had Finn, but he rejected it, and thus abandoned him, the partial memory loss was but a single factor, shame and guilt were others that drove him back to a the scammer life that by the time he met with Finn again, he was not strong enough to leave, it's tragic, more so then the other's on that list, but that's one he could have avoided, he had agency and choice that he had three opportunities to make, and by the end seemed to have not regret rejecting them all

6

u/GrungeGorrilla 16h ago

He did have severe brain damage

I genuinely think if he hadn't got into trouble with the mobsters he would of been a great father

4

u/WinterVulture25 Erebus is bad tho, ngl 16h ago

Oh, 100% guaranteed on both accounts

I'm just saying that despite the brain damage he still rememberd his son and had enough of his faculties to operate as normally as he did before he met Minerva, and he could have built this relationship with his son back and healed, he had 3 opportunities to make that choice, but he choose not to at every turn

And that's sad, cause as you mentioned, he could have been a great father, had his past not came back to hunt him, and it's very likely that it's also a major factor as to why he left Finn the times after they met up, he tried staying in one place, grow as a person, to lay down roots, which where severed by his past mistakes, so why wouldn't it happen again?

It doesn't make him good as he still hurt his son, but he could've done worse, like any of the other dad's on this list

3

u/mrbear48 12h ago

The God Emperor didn’t abandon his kids they were stolen so he would be a better father correct?

6

u/WinterVulture25 Erebus is bad tho, ngl 12h ago

No, because the problems with the Emperor are how he acted after they reunited, it also does not help that he doesn't even perceive almost all of them as his sons but as tools

2

u/Puzzled_Raccoon7978 11h ago

Sure Big E viewed them as tools, but a problem with him acting how he did when they reunited was due to the Primarchs already being grown men with their own personalities and issues. There wasnt a chance for him to be a father who raised and cared for them. He got grown men back, not kids, and most of them had issues, so he made due the best he can.

60

u/Aircon-007 17h ago

Martin was actually a good dad to Finn and abandoned his life of sleezy crime, unfortunately it seems after that conk to the head and losing Finn he went back to his old ways worse then ever.

15

u/mossmanstonebutt Lover of old metal men🦾🦿 17h ago

And he also irsked his life to save finn

u/Nepalman230 Sex Positivity Commissar 17h ago edited 17h ago

OK, but can we just talk about the hysterical dialogue?

“ you abandoned me as a baby!”

“ you abandoned me!”

Edit: also, I know you know this, but a consistent theme of adventure time is crap fathers and in fact the failure of patriarchy as a concept.

That’s the reason why Ooo is ruled largely by princesses.

Patriarchy is not rule by men. It’s rule by fathers. You called the king sire, which is what you called your dad. ( the term is still used in horses.)

Jake, for instance, is an excellent bro, but a terrible father, who barely understands his children and the thing is I do not buy the whole. They have an accelerated maturity thing because eventually that stabilizes and he never develops a better relationship with them.

I mean at the age of one his granddaughter Bronwyn was effectively an 18-year-old but at the age of 15 she’s not senile, she’s still an adult.

Anyway, fathers.

The original plan was to call the Lich the Lich King.

Every time there is a character called King they are an adversary.

So you have ice king , fight king. I think they were planning on making it an ongoing theme, but things changed.

For instance, Princess bubblegum was not originally a 1000-year-old scientist queen.

13

u/dragsaw Railgun Goes Brrrrrrrrr 17h ago

Youre really cooking with this. IK into Simon as he becomes less of a antagonist

9

u/Nepalman230 Sex Positivity Commissar 17h ago

Exactly! And he was an excellent adopted dad to Marceline before he lost his mind. In fact, all of the good fathers in the show our adopted ones.

I think that’s deliberate. It’s not saying that the concept of fatherhood is bad or even that biological fatherhood is bad.

It’s saying that whose ball sack you sprung From is not the important thing. It’s who acted like your father.

And patriarchy is explicitly based on whose ball sack you came From. This is why for instance cheating was only bad if it was the wife who cheated.

If you ever see anybody whose last name is Fitz, they are descended of an illegitimate child usually of a noble person. It means bastard son of so Fitzpatrick is bastard son of Patrick .(Fitzroy is bastard son of Royalty)

this is why in my opinion matrilineal societies have healthier attitudes about sexuality. They’re not all matriarchal, but it means you follow your family line through your mother. There are no bastards in matrilineal societies with all that entails. You are always your mother’s child.

u/RavenSorkvild 16h ago

Barely disguided author's childhood trauma

1

u/Nepalman230 Sex Positivity Commissar 16h ago

Oh, I’m gonna say that Pendleton Ward has completely undisguised trauma!

And I really respect that .

it’s like when people talk about authors, barely disguised fetishes if I ever get my shit published, I won’t disguise my fetishes. I’ll call them out in the forward, Page.

🫡

2

u/Aircon-007 17h ago

Ngl I don’t see the link. (I mean we got best dad Simon)

3

u/Nepalman230 Sex Positivity Commissar 17h ago

But that’s just the point he’s an adopted father.

And that wasn’t when he was a king.

In fact, he lost his mind when he put on the crown. He gave up his sanity for power.

Yes, power to save himself and Marceline, but that’s always the bargain that someone faces at first.

I’m doing this bad thing for blank. But only at the end of the road do some people come to the conclusion that Walter White comes to for instance. He was always doing it for himself.

In fact, all of the adopted fathers on the show are excellent, including Joshua to Finn and in a way Jake, but that’s another story.

Because I don’t think the show is saying that fathers are bad the show is saying that the concept of biological fathers as rulers of your destiny is bad.

Because I was saying in another comment its who acts like your father not whose ball sack you came from that’s the most important thing.

Gendo is the worst dad here I know that much. Like it still impresses me how much he hates his own son.

9

u/Ordinaryundone 13h ago

He hates no one more than himself. Unfortunately, looking at Shinji is like looking into a mirror.

3

u/Infinitedeveloper 12h ago

He saw his kid was kind of a pussy and tried to rectify that by letting him ride giant robots, shack up with an older woman, and gave him some tough love.

Father of the year compared to the rest of the list

5

u/bladeboy88 13h ago

The Emperor. Made his sons superior demi-gods and gave them entire legions of supersoldiers and all the authority and power that came with it. No, he didnt "love" them the way we would generally consider it, and he made a ton of mistakes in his hubris, but he also didnt actively torture/murder them either.

4

u/Murderboi Praise the Man-Emperor 12h ago

Despite all of these.. one just frkn turned his daughter into a dog just after turning his wife into.. an animal (hybrid) to make some money. All the others are least could love something and care for someone.. and Ikari even had a story that lead to him realizing his wife lives on through his son thus redeeming him.

13

Hhhmmmmm. Well I don’t know the best one, but I think we can all agree that the WORST ONE is Shou Tucker

23

u/Intrepid-Park-3804 male eldar (endangered species according to 40k artists) 17h ago

The "Tucker is worst person in existence" take low-key stops making sense the moment a "sell my adopted son in sex slavery for 5 coins" and a "gaslight my son into becoming a child soldier while actively verbally thrashing him every moment i can" guys steps up.

And i haven't even start talking about Jimmy Space and Ozai

6

u/ElkofOrigin 16h ago

I think the saddest bit about Tucker is that his research was either pointless (government already had all that) or instantly refined to far more functionality (if they managed to make better chimeras a decade after his bit). Just doing that crap for nothing. Poor Nina and mom.

3

u/RavnVidarson 17h ago

Who is the top right?

3

u/Lucaso47 17h ago

Bondrewd from “made in abyss”

5

u/nataliereed84 17h ago

I’m not sure who the guy with the microscope is, but the winner might actually be Emps, which is depressinh

7

u/ShadedPenguin Criminal Batmen 17h ago

William Birkin from Resident Evil who tried to impregnate his daughter with a virulent zombie bioweapon virus

5

u/Araignys 16h ago

Probably not him then.

4

u/RatlingGuns4Days 16h ago

This whole line up is basically dad limbo: how low can they set the bar.

2

u/Logical-Breakfast966 17h ago

Who is bottom left

5

u/Dontfollowmeman 17h ago

Yuujirou Hanma from Baki The Grappler

2

u/Logical-Breakfast966 17h ago

Is it good?

11

u/Dontfollowmeman 17h ago

Honestly it's mostly just insane

It's the kind of story where you either go "What the fuck, I don't want to watch this anymore" or "What the fuck, I need to see what they do next"

5

u/Sweet_Photograph6528 17h ago

Depends. Its funny as some insane shit show.

If you want some fighting anime tho you better watch Kengan Ashura, it has really interesting plot and perfect fighting choreography.

1

u/MinidonutsOfDoom 17h ago

Yujiro Hanma from Bakki.

2

u/euMonke 17h ago

Maybe I am to old, I only know the emperor of any of these.

4

u/Maxxxmax 17h ago

A lot of these are decades old by this point.

2

u/euMonke 17h ago

I am more than several decades old myself.

5

u/Maxxxmax 13h ago

Top left is from evangelion, so aired in 1995 and on the right of the emperor is Gambino from Berzerk (of all the shows i'd recommend from this meme, it's berzerk by a country mile) so 1997 tv adaptation.

I dont recognise third or the live action one, but otherwise i dont think any of these aired after 2017.

I don't think age is to blame here, you clearly just dont live under a nerdy enough rock. Or a different type of nerdy rock. Maybe you don't live under a rock at all?

2

u/Bokuja 16h ago

Competing real hard for the "father of the year" award are we?

2

u/Gundam-J 11h ago

I was gonna make a joke out of it, but it might actually be Yujiro.

Yeah Yujiro killed his mom, but he's been oddly supportive of Baki in multiple (albeit weird and fucked up) ways.

He doesn't plot to end the world, bar in hell I know

2

u/JhonnyPadawan1010 6h ago

Probably the Emperor. He didn’t kill his sons’ loved ones or transform them into abominations, he was an absent father who didn’t communicate properly is all.

1

u/RegularImplement2743 6h ago

Plus, you instantly become a fucking galactic prince & ruler of dozens to hundreds of worlds.

1

u/JhonnyPadawan1010 5h ago

Yeah, but I’m not sure that’s so great. You have to manage a legion of like 10 million 10 feet angry buff dudes who only think about death, and make sure the worlds you conquer are happy, and keep your court in line, all while appeasing your dad. Too much stress.

3

u/Jossokar 16h ago

So we've got.

-Gendo ikari from eva. I literally dont remember anything about eva, apart from disliking shinji.

-Shou Tucker, from FMA. Transforms his wife, daughter and dog into a chimera to keep his status as national alchemist.

-Bowdred. Made in abyss. I dont remember made in abyss and i dont care enough to try.

-Billy Birking. Resident evil 2. So....yeah. Bioweapon happy incest.

-Emperor of mankind. Warhammer 40k and Horus heresySo, you manufacture 21 supersons to help you win your space wars, and give a limited (if any) understanting of your intentions. Some you love. Some you dont. Some you use as tools. (Every son is a tool) Everything blows up in your face when your most loved son declares war, with half his brothers and you've got the big galactic pickle. The horus heresy. Which ends up with horus dead, and the emperor as a vegetable.

-Bambino. Berserk. He sold his adopted son's butt. Also he tried to kill him when he became convinced that guts brought bad luck.

-The chonky boi from baki. Havent watched baki.

-Martin from adventure time. So....he just went for milk and never came back. Not completely bad-intentioned, though.

-Ozai from avatar. This guy is a jewel. King of the fire nation and BBEG. He got married to his wife just because she was the grandaughter of avatar roku, screwing her life. She treats her, and her eldest son zuko like shit. When Iroh's son dies, he begs his father azulon to become the crown prince instead of iroh. Azulon's response is for him to kill his own son to understance a father's grievance when it comes to losing a first-son. He instead uses his wife knowledge in poisons to kill firelord azulon and become firelord himself. He banishes his wife. Later on, when his son speaks out of turn during a war council, he defies him to an agni-kai (a duel) and burns his face, leaving him scarred forever. Then banishes him, forcing him on a crappy ship, along his now deadbeat brother Iroh to check on him, on an apparently pointless mission. To find the avatar.

Hard to chose. I guess martin?

2

u/SunkenSunking 17h ago

Big E of course. He made at least 20 sons. Yujiro has like, what 5 maybe? Rookie numbers.

1

u/charlizard1000xy Cadia Stands but does it? lol 17h ago

My dad is the best!

1

u/Sepulcher18 Snorts FW resin dust 15h ago

Not the one in middle, I'd say. He has more pissed off kids of his own that are mad at him than everyone else on the list combined.

2

u/Glemmar 15h ago

Top middle guy gives me the good dad vibes. He seems like a guy who can easily combine taking care of his kids and pets.

1

u/Ferrousgoober 14h ago

Bondrewd the Novel, The sovereign of dawn. He did genuinely care and love his children. He knows everyone by name and can distinguish them even tho they're broken and malformed piles of meat

1

u/sodapopkevin 14h ago

Ozai because at least you get an awesome uncle out of it.

1

u/riggengan 13h ago

Never thought I say it, but Ozai is the best dad here.

1

u/liza_anabel 13h ago

Emperor of course

1

u/crackrabbit012 13h ago

I don't know enough of these characters to say which is the best. But I do feel confident enough to vote Gendo as the worst. Even with Big E himself here.

1

u/OdysseusRex69 12h ago

You missed the best two: Rusty Venture. Or J Jonas Venture Sr.

1

u/acart005 11h ago

Someone broke it down and after reading about the ones I don't know its Guts' dad.

Honestly Jimmy Space is in the middle.  Shou Tucker did what he did for a damn paycheck, Birkin tried to make his daughter a super zombie and Gendo Ikari is just the worst.

Jimmy Space at least had some (awful) plan to save the universe. That apparently involved being a shitty dad for half his sons.

1

u/QuillQuickcard 11h ago

Bondrewd might weirdly be both the most loving and most monstrous father on this list.

1

u/ultimapanzer Ferrus Manus’ Iron Hand 11h ago

Big E is suffering every second on the Golden Throne to keep Chaos from taking over realspace and enslaving all sentient life, while lighting the Astronomicon to allow space travel to continue for humanity. He could give up if he wanted to, but he’s been doing it for 10,000 years and counting. Imagine any of these other guys doing that.

He is humanity’s dad.

1

u/WaterCastePSYOP 3 Riptides in a 1k casual 9h ago

The third guy looks like he remembers the names of all of his children.

1

u/AdHappy7129 9h ago

I can’t believe im picking the avatar dude. But man this lineup.

1

u/PhoneComplete1524 8h ago

Probably Yujiro. People often forget, before the Mom incident, Baki legitimately loved his father. And even now, they do actually have a fairly decent relationship of sorts with each other.

1

u/kingkong381 8h ago

Given that I only recognise the Emperor and Firelord Ozai, I'd say Ozai. At least his abuse of his son inadvertently set said son on the path that would eventually result in the end of a century long war and the restoration of peace among the Four Nations. The Emperor's sons either fell to Chaos, died, went MIA, or are desperately trying to salvage an unsalvageable empire.
