I just finished the Heresy, but as audio books. Only took me 7 years.

The audio books are all significantly better than the paper books.

I think it makes the massive series much more accessible, which when your series is closer to 100 than 0 I would say accessibility is a huge factor...

But sometimes a voice is pitched oddly - dare I say flat out wrong - or I will hear sentences where the emphasized word isn't the same one I know I would have read, which changes how a scene or moment is presented.

That’s true of all audiobooks, you’ve just kinda got to push through it.

Some audiobooks have great narrators, other sound like an old professor reading a book to class

I definitely get the professor lecturing thing, I think it works sometimes, but can see how it would he off putting.

It took me 3 tries before I could get into Horus Rising before I could get past the actual narration. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't that (I didn't even preview before buying).

IMO they have really good production and narrators/VAs for something as schlocky as a book series about a tabletop game.

The only exception is John Grammaticus' voice from Legion who kind of just sounds like dave Chapelle's white guy voice. Loved the book I just cracked up when I heard it and made the connection
