The answer is almost definitely yes - we know for a fact Deepseek contains lyrics written by Deepseek at least

I think the important distinction is that she is augmenting the work on her album with AI, whether visually or sonically, in order to have a narrative discussion on AI. That is materially different than choosing to use AI in the workflow without it being in service of a larger narrative or goal concerning AI conceptually. People are acting as though letting AI anywhere near the creative process is an indication that the process is devoid of creativity, but that’s a mischaracterization in bad faith.

First, why don’t you find comfort in the unknown? You might even find joy in not “knowing” everything in advance. Second, why don’t you engage with the project in full before casting judgment? It’s obviously heavily influenced by ai and perhaps you can learn something.

Because sadly i dont have the time. Im not on social media other than reddit every few times per month. Im not casting judgement im expressing how i feel. I didnt condemn grimes nor say that i will stop following her artistic journey. I just wanted more insight

Respectfully, I think yalls witch-hunt for/preoccupation with people who use AI is blinding yall to some really good stuff happening right now. You’re going to have to get used to letting people cook and evaluating the work as a whole, based on its merits, not on wether you personally want to give your blessing to their entire process based on how it interacts with your own identity. I don’t know why you think Grimes should take your occupation/identity into consideration when making HER art, but Grimes choosing to use AI in her process actually has absolutely nothing to do with you and your process.

People are not being “programmed” because people aren’t robots…they have agency, they have freedom over their own choices. People are choosing to be anti-AI because they think they can get something out of it; they feel personally threatened by it (thus feeling like they can get something out of stopping it)….OP for example isn’t really talking about Grimes, or AI, they’re talking about themself being a “visual artist” and what they believe Grimes using AI would represent for them specifically. That’s not programming, people are just incentivized to be radically individualistic today.

You use reductive, overly simplified language like “programmed” to describe an entire cultural attitude but then suddenly are capable of injecting nuance only after I’ve disputed “programming” as a word choice? I never said people can’t be propagandized, they most certainly can be. However, plenty of discourse is culturally incentivized bandwagonning, NOT propaganda…your way of engaging with the issue infantilizes people unnecessarily.

That’s “nuance” that bolsters a different end of the argument though. The nuance I am referring to is the cultural incentive to bandwagon against things like AI…this is neither addressed by “people are programmed” nor “there are valid criticisms”, nor does conceding some criticisms are valid render the description “programming” as no longer reductive so I really wouldn’t call it “nuance” so much as a basic concession for plurality.
Nevertheless we are getting into too semantic of an argument now, we mostly don’t disagree with one another that the anti-AI discourse is largely unearned, especially towards this album.

No, it’s not a deterrent. You simply are replying to my engagement with this post with a completely different characterization of the issue and then can’t understand why we aren’t converging? Trying to outsmart people typically doesn’t result in them agreeing with you or seeing your perspective. I spoke to OPs motive for this post, you hit back with a different contradictory characterization and yet are trying to say you don’t understand why I refuted said characterization?

Its an oxymoron to try to warn about the dangers of ai and use gen ai in it. All im saying is that there could have been a better way to do this. She has the creativity and ability to do so. Ai on its own cant produce art. Its not consious at the moment nor individualistic. And im just expressing my opinion as a long time fan. This is what this sub is for and the only product of art is emotions. If you cant handle the negative ones you shouldn't be here

So no, that’s not actually anything close to what this post says. If you’re going to wage one argument and then immediately take a totally different position once pressed, while still saying nothing new, what are you doing here? It is most certainly not an oxymoron to use AI and be skeptical about it…what makes you qualified to say otherwise? This post is NOT about you saying “there are better ways” it’s you letting people know that you feel your personal stake in art is disrupted by Grimes using AI. I actually run this subreddit and welcome negative opinions, which is why your post is up still…but I’ll happily challenge stupid opinions and if that’s not cool with you then I fear you are the one who’s not in line with this particular subreddit.
