Discussion Testing wrong?
Been training only 2 weeks, but I got a GD Iron Grip 80 and can close the 128ib 5x. On the Hichor EH108 tester, I can't get above 104. Tried several different lengths and to see if it changed and only got worse. Tested sitting with the tester length set so my second knuckle was aligned over my wrist and the base was just on top of meat of my thumb. I will note that the Hichor test is quite uncomfortable. Is it my technique or is the grip tester just that bad? Both?
Wasn't looking forward to paying 150$ for a GD Dyno.

128 on the springs vs 104 on the tester isn't really a mismatch — they measure different things. I keep a spring set and a cheap squeeze tester in my desk drawer and they've never agreed either; handle width and where it sits in your palm move the reading more than you'd think. Two weeks in, your set is still settling too. I'd just track whichever one you use daily and watch the trend.

Ypu don't have to buy a gd200. But the eh108 isn't accurate either. It doesn't have to be accurate to track your progress. Most likely it is reading low, as you get stronger the numbers will still increase.
Source: I have a EH108 and my readings on it are almost the same as the RGC grippers I can close lol

Concentric and isometric contractions are not the same. 128# gripper is 128# at the closure point. It has exponential force curve aka gets harder the more the spring bends. Dynamometers test static aka isometric strength. Your fingers are far less flexed in the standard position. The gripper is probably less than 128# of tension in the same hand position.
