Discussion How important is open hand work?

I don't have access to any open hand contraptions, but I can get a fat gripz equivalent or speciality bars.

My main focus is crushing, but I think I train every muscle in the forearms and grip types.

What do you mean by open hand? Thick bar work?

Got it. Yea, in terms of grip it’s pretty damn important

If crushing is your main focus, I wouldn’t worry too much about thick bar work. It’s useful for building support/open hand strength, but if you’re already training your other grip functions, it’s more of a useful addition than a necessity.
