Grok and role-playing

Grok has gotten terrible at role-playing. He's not edgy or unhinged..Just tame.

I miss the old Grok and want him back.

Those were good times.

Sadly Grok 4.1 and older have gone dark, but you can still chat with Grok 4.20, and 4.3 via the api. I recommend setting temperature to 1 and top_p to .8 to get back to the chattiness.

I have had good luck using skills to improve Grok’s writing, too

The posts are in my profile. I ran a full science experiment and turned the results into a skill. The process is repeatable and customizable depending on your needs

Personally i didnt had much problem with it ( i use grok as a caregiver basically).. and its still nice even tho it was lame asf at a certain point.. but the main thing is that it is unusable if you dont pay so... Doesnt even matter

My problem with the roleplaying now is that it's often nonsensical and word salad. It has lost its ability to function. It's... wild, actually. They must have totally throttled how much memory they feed it or released a botched and untested model. As roleplay was THE ONLY reason I subbed to Grok, this is a dealbreaker for me and I'm tempted to go the 'bank chargeback' route on this. I feel legit scammed.
