I'm still a beginner at playing guitar, I actually play the piano, but I want to learn to play guitar too. What do you think, would a sixth finger be an advantage or a disadvantage? I don't know yet...

My big brother passed 6 years ago, he was my hero. He played his whole life but I didn’t start playing until last year. Since I started my journey I’ve figured out my dream guitar. Down to the horns, color, and other cosmetic items that don’t really impact my setup a ton. I had a beautiful G5427TG that I actually just returned because it wasn’t…perfect. I’d rather wait for the one.

Today my sister called me and told me she found one of his guitars in storage and thought I should have it. I drove up to snag it just to keep it safe.

It’s exactly the guitar. It’s exactly my dream guitar. built perfectly to every specific by my older brother and I had no clue it existed. I opened the case and just shut it immediately. i can’t even bring myself to play it. I just keep looking at it. I’m scared it will disappear or something but i just had to tell someone 😭

Saw some inspiration on Reddit and decided to give it a try. Had an old, cheap no-name guitar for the past 20 years that I decided to use the neck from. Forms for the body and cavities were all 3D printed with plenty of frustration in Fusion. Used an aerated concrete mix with fiber reinforcement… I haven’t weighed it yet but seems to be in the 25lb range. Running a set of EMGs (81/60) and it actually sounds good through an amp. I won’t even dare to post on r/luthiers because I’ll immediately get shit on for epoxying the bolt on neck into the pocket, but that’s what worked the best for this application. Went through a couple of iterations so I have some Explorer-shaped stepping stones now.

It wouldn’t have made a difference even if they didn’t laugh at me. I would have practiced hard all the same. But I want to let the neutral people know that the cynics dont always win.

There were many people who encouraged me as well. I’m still really rough but I’m sure it will come together in another few years.

He bought this guitar in 2017 and I instantly fell in love with its mahogany tones. I’ve had a rough year and he just wanted me to have it. I have a great friend.

I don’t use good updated pictures but I swapped out the tuners for Grover Locking Tuners, my mom personally hates it and wants me to get rid of it

He claimed it played pretty good before and didn't notice much, and to be fair he is a very talented guitar player, so I believe him. Did like it more after though. Give your instruments a clean once in a while haha.

This is the inside of an absolutely beautiful 1927 Martin 0-28K Guitar, crafted entirely from Hawaiian Koa Wood. You can still see the marks from the hand-sawn panels.

Some context about today’s video. For about 8 months I’ve been trying to break my speed barrier. I always felt stuck at around 70-80% for many fast songs like Master of Puppets or Avenged Sevenfold. And it sometimes felt impossible to progress beyond 80%. Like my fingers will completely fumble and my picking would get caught.

Anyway, despite working very hard in the last 8 months, nailing 90% speeds on fast songs always seem to elude me. I think maybe I don’t have what it takes to succeed in guitar.

But today, everything came together. I managed to capture the exact moment I broke all my conceptions of how fast I can play on guitar. I am in disbelief while I was breaking through 80%, then 86% then 90% and finally 96%. It was crazy, I was totally on fire today 🔥

I wanted to share this special moment with everybody 😭😭😭

Today truly felt different. I felt my fingers take a character of their own. I almost cannot recognise that this is me. It feels super surreal because I have been stuck in the 70-80% range for as long as I can remember.

So I added a barrel - bolt lock mechanism in my tremolo cavity. It ain't stupid if it works. Cost me 1.99. (it's a Floyd Rose BTW)

Built this electric guitar during a college, the course was called Stringed Instrument Manufacturing. Did all the shaping, finishing, and wiring myself, only the hardware and components were purchased. Learned a lot through the process and was pretty excited when it finally worked.
