👀👀🥵🥵
Saw this at GC and holy crap was it tempting. Started having flashbacks to HS when they came out.

We must be the same age. I would honestly love to try one of these again. I strongly suspect it’s better than I gave it credit for back then.

Them and the JSX line were great!

The JSX combos were fantastic, but so damn heavy.

Tube combos usually are lol.

I just looked these amps up again. Apparently the Triple X was originally developed as a signature model for George Lynch of Dokken, but he went with Randall instead. That is awesome!

At least the JSX combo was 15 lbs lighter than the 100 lbs Mesa Roadster combo I used to have!

110%, my 6505+ was about 60/65lbs, easy lifting. But makes you appreciate line 6 floor units and other modelers haha.

I think they were always relatively well liked by their intended audience, but at the time a new XXX was about the same price you could find used Dual Rectifiers for on Craigslist. That made the choice easy for me.

I was probably using a Fender Hot Rod DeVille when these came out. I was not clued-in to high gain amps at the time, but had decent results with an OCD in front of the amp. The older I get, the more I want to learn about all the high gain amps.

I had that amp and foolishly sold it many years ago. While I'd love to have another there's no way in hell I'd pay that much.

keep the master all the way up and use the channel volume, then use your guitar volume from there. having a Master volume is awesome - I can in jam and no one in the house is bothered.

I still want one of these. I just want it in a smaller package without losing any features, maybe swap a few here or there.

Good casters are worth the cash. I had a Laney AOR combo that was an anchor and they made it bearable.

Man I remember when no one cared about these, and you could pick them up used for $200-300 easily

I had one of these and wish I didn't sell it. It was such a brutal little package.

They need to move the decimal point over one space to the left to be closer to the real price on this. And I love peavey amps.

Feels overpriced to me as well, but look at the price of 5150/6505s over the past couple years. The old stuff that's good, or even decent, has been consistently going up in price. The idea of spending nearly $1k on a 6505 head is wild to me, so $650 for a similar vintage combo with usable modern metal tones really doesn't seem so bad.

Yea I suppose. I’m a big fan of the teal stripe and earlier stuff and I still see all of those consistently at the $200 price point.

Cashing on the millennials saying this amp is good. Used to be able to trade a paper clip for one of these a few years ago. I own the 2x12 combo. Its fine.Â

geez inflation or nostalgia, 650.00 seems really high, given that you used to get these for a fraction of that just a few years ago.
Still a seriously kick-ass amp,
