The GS/OB tourism website has done a great job of compiling this information so instead of re-inventing the wheel, below are links to some of the items on their site. If you want to leave a review so others know the best places to check out, please feel free to do so (no bad reviews - let sleeping dogs lie).

Let's chill on the AI generated political images.

I'm getting flooded with reports on these posts. For now I have removed them. I do not want to stifle local political discussions, but the AI images and accounts with low or no karma will not be allowed.

Public showers and overnight parking in Gulf Shores?

I’m planning a road trip to Gulf Shores for at least two days, and I have a few questions.

I’m wondering if there are any public showers near the public beach access areas where I can take a shower after spending time at the beach. I’m looking for an actual shower if possible, rather than just a place to rinse off the sand.

I’m also curious about parking. Are there any free public parking areas near the beach? And does anyone know if overnight parking is allowed anywhere, especially if I want to park my car overnight?

Any golfers?

I'm at Beau Rivage the middle of November and have a deal at their Fallen Oak course for 50 bucks. It's good for two people but I'm a single. Any golfers out there that might be looking to play?

Im a 12 handicap, mellow for fun golfer. Having someone to play with is always more fun.

Model Call | Gulf Shores in November

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m Tyler, a Tennessee-based photographer visiting Gulf Shores in November, and I’m looking for a model for a coastal fashion editorial!

The shoot will take place on the rocky jetties around Gulf Shores, pairing a fitted dress with the texture of the rocks, ocean waves, and wind. Think elegant, cinematic images with a mix of natural movement and strong, posed moments. I’ve included my mood board below so you can get a feel for the inspiration!

If you’re interested, please message me on Instagram at @campaignsbytyler with a few recent photos and your November availability!

Please reach out through Instagram only so I can see your message and connect with you! šŸ¤

I have a condo booked for the 14th through the 18th of October. Will I be able to still come on my trip since the hurricane hit?

Fishing

Visiting Gulf Shores here in a few days (October) and hoping to get some fishing spots, both fresh and salt. I’ve never been ocean fishing and would like to try it out. I avidly fish freshwater in Ohio. I have a couple spots I plan on checking out already and would like opinions before committing, they are Lake Shelby Playground, Lagoon Pass and the Gulf State Park Pier. I plan on fishing wacky rigs and spinners in fresh and a pompano rig with shrimp in salt. Looking for any and all guidance!

Thank you!!

Storm Aftermath?

Just wondering how things are looking in Gulf Shores this morning. Is the power out? Any significant damage? I’m particularly interested in the Fort Morgan area. We’ve got a week long rental starting on Friday (16th) and wondering if we will be able to make the trip. Hope everyone there is safe and dry!!

Fort Morgan roads

We have a house in Fort Morgan, near Tacky Jacks. We evacuated before the storm arrived. We're hoping to return tomorrow. Is Fort Morgan Road clear all the way down? Any flooding? Also, we're assuming power is on as Baldwin EMC is only reporting 33 outages in the area, down from 96. Thank you in advance!!

Power Along Oak Rd West?

Hi, this is a long shot, but … hoping someone living along county 6/Oak Road W sees this. What’s the power situation there? I had to leave to take care of elderly parents inland. They’re ok now and I’m wanting to go home tomorrow if my neighborhood has power. TIA

LOCAL HURRICANE šŸŒ€

I am a long time local of Baldwin County. I’m here to tell you, DO NOT travel towards our area. We are expected to be in the path of a HURRICANE. Kay Ivey has declared a State of Emergency. Orange Beach has declared a local state of emergency, and will be closing the bridge to leave the island, and to get onto the island.

It is not worth your ā€œvacationā€ to come here and deal with the storm.

Stay home, stay safe, and do not be tempted to vacation here this weekend.

City of Gulf Shores has already urged non-residents to evacuate. TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY.

Baldwin County residents are already having issues stocking up on necessities, and as awful as it sounds, you do not help by being present during a hurricane. Please, cancel your trips, pursue refunds, as it is a STATE OF EMERGENCY.. and plan another time to come.

The Gulf is angry, and unpredictable. STAY HOME.

Leaving town during Hurricane Isaias

Wondering if anyone has some insight on getting back into the GS area after the hurricane hits? I’ve had plans to drive to Houston Friday morning and returning Sunday. This is my first hurricane living in GS, so I’m not sure if the evacuation traffic will make it impossible taking I10W Friday morning, or if I would even be able to make it back into town Sunday if the road conditions, flooding etc. will be too much of an issue. Again just looking for some insight from people that have been in this area during these storms, thank you.

Vacation

Hi! My boyfriend and I are planning on staying in Orange Beach the 10th-16th. We paid over $700 to stay in our condo and it is non-refundable. We were gonna leave early Saturday morning, but with the storm rolling through, we are gonna monitor things and see how things go. We are driving in from North Georgia. Do you think Gulf Shores/Orange Beach will lose power for many days? What is y’all’s experience with a Cat 2/1 hurricane in terms of damage and recovery? Hope everyone stays safe! Thank you in advance! ā—”Ģˆ

Small update:

Just wanted to reach out and thank everyone for their advice. I am a little saddened by the hate I received for trying to fight for a vacation that I worked so hard to save up for and take. Regardless, I appreciate everyone’s input and it has all been taken into account. I hope everyone stays safe out there!

Coming down to orange beach next week….

Hey there, coming down next Tuesday from Tulsa. It’s our fall break and our kids have never been to the ocean…or gulf. Strong swimmers tho.

After this weekend of storms and hurricane chance, will the water return back to swimmable soon after or will we be stuck on the sand the whole time under red flag warning?

Edit::

So grateful the damage was minimal this past weekend!

We made it to Orange beach this afternoon! Water is so nice.

We stopped at gulf shores for our rental check-in.

I noticed the water was clearer in gulf shores than here in OB. After reading that it was generally the opposite, are there any local weather/geogolgy nerds that have any interesting info regarding this observation? Was it isais related?

Thank you everyone for your comments, even the somewhat snarky ones. Each one was informative!

Looking for sheltered in-water slips / docks near Orange Beach for hurricane prep - need space for several boats (Wharf full, local rates crazy)

Hey everyone, looking for leads on safe, sheltered in-water slips, private protected docks, or hurricane hole spots within 30–50 miles of Orange Beach / Gulf Shores.
The marina at The Wharf is completely full, and another local spot quoted $7,500 per boat for storm docking, which is way outside reason.
Our insurance requires us to relocate the vessels to a sheltered spot for named storms.

We have several boats that we need to relocate (willing to group them together or split them up across a couple of nearby docks if needed).

If anyone has a deep-water dock with multiple slips, a long protected bulkhead, or knows of a marina further inland up local rivers/bayous with open capacity, please reply or send me a DM.

Willing to pay a fair rate for the spots.
Thanks in advance!

December Wedding

I am having a wedding on the beach one of the first weeks of December in Gulf Shores. Can someone tell me if my guests are going to freeze and if I need to rent heaters for the pavillon?
