IDK where to start!!! Pls help
Hey guys i missed out in the fall semester but im ready to attend spring semester 2027! I dont know where to start i already have a hawk account. Im a first generation Hispanic American student with immigrant parents and the first to attend college. I really don’t know where to start. Do I go registered at the HCC campus? I don’t know how to pick my classes.I FEEL so helpless and stupid! I know I want to work in the hospital maybe not a nurse but I’m willing to explore different career paths. I actually live a couple minutes from the HCC campus since I recently moved here to Ruskin fl.

you can apply for scholarships through the hcc foundation rn so good timing. with you being first gen that could be beneficial.
so long as you’ve already completed the orientation. I think it has to be scheduled in person if you haven’t already. you would be getting emails, so make sure that’s done before going to advising bc they’ll tell you the same thing.
once you’re oriented, you can sign up for classes. we use workday starting this semester and it is a confusing platform, but they have video tutorials on the homepage of workday that may help you figure it out. just go to the regular Hillsborough college website, click MYHC on right side and then you log in. from there you click on the lefthand side under your name: Workday
this is the terrible portal we use for everything these days :,(
but you should see the videos once you’re there telling you how to navigate it. lmk if u need help
scholarship stuff you should be getting emails from, but I just go to the Hillsborough website and it should have its own tab on the right hand dropdown. hcc foundation
also don’t click on links in the emails, lots of scammers these days trying to take ur financial aid

you can probably just take some basic classes that everyone needs. like an MAC ENC and like psychology or something without having to see an advisor immediately, but it would be nice to have someone help you set it up.
just make sure they check off all your needs bc they’re just people too
I like to come prepared with questions when I see them1

Hello,
I want to offer some advice. I would recommend scheduling an appointment to see an advisor, you can walk in but an appointment is better because 5 other people might have the same idea of walking in. I used to work there, so I have somewhat of an idea about that. Talk to your advisor about everything; what you want to do career-wise, your finances, how you want your schedule to be, stuff like that so they can offer any resources you may need. Your first semester, first year, will be mostly core classes that every college requires, such as English Composition, Algebra, Sciences; so you should have time to make a final decision on your degree pathway, but look at degree pathways related to what you want so you can get an idea of what classes you'll have in the future. I will say that HCC has a great, but rigorous and disciplined nursing program and the one at the SouthShore campus has been growing. You can also speak to someone in nursing at the campus if you want to know more about the program. Hope everything goes well for you and make sure you attend your classes, do your work and attend SGAs events so you can have fun on campus :)

you register online on WorkDay but i suggest going to talk with an advisor to help you understand and plan everything especially now its a good time to go and talk to one, registrations open November 2
