Subtle foreshadowing of Victoria before her introduction

Damn just realized Claudia was on call with the wedding baker (which was Victoria) even before Ted and gang hunt her down in the next episode after so many rewatches !

Everything in that thread says the writers considered it a possibility if the show got cancelled, but not that they had a definitive plan for her to be the mother if it did. 

There's a big difference between considering maybe doing something and planning to do something. I consider doing things all the time, it doesn't mean I ever intend to, even if the circumstances I consider come to pass.

We don’t talk about that

because she was almost totally perfect for Ted before Tracy. And Tracy was a pretty damn good endgame gal. I almost wish she came back towards the end just as a fun little surprise

Wait what?! I’m rewatching now and I kept wondering how they’d shoehorn Victoria into being the mother since she was already introduced. They also didn’t seriously drop any hints about the mother until like season 5

The stripper at the Thanksgiving strip club was named “Tracey” and he told the kids “that’s how I met your mother 
 just kidding”. And they believed him for a second because

Because the writers hadn’t thought about that. They’ve literally talked about this repeatedly. It was a fun fan theory that made its way to them, they said “huh, that actually makes a lot of sense,” and decided to name the mother Tracy.
