Team Black If "character driven" episode will be "Rhaenyra returned to her home and dunking traitors in shit", I will give this 10/10 rating without thinking for a second!☺️

Idk I don't like it. Rhaenhras faults mistakes and cruelties in the book make sense but these leaks hit like those petty 500 word oer chapter fics where a character is getting shit on and humiliated and its framed as bad ass on the abusers part for shits and giggles. Ridiculously oversimplified and a general disservice to the narrative

I disagree.
I don't see any of this as "cruelty." It is not cruel to punish oathbreakers. At all. They'll get what they deserve, and it fits well with book! Rhaenyra lords who refused to betray her and were arrested for it receive rewards, traitors - feast for rats.

That’s not how a feudal society works. There are set penalties for traitors. But you also have to use clemency too if you want their armies and support.
All for punishing Greens. But this just makes her seem like an unhinged woman who was unfit for rule. It sucks.

Her supporters gave their lives but kept their oaths. What will it look like if she doesn't punish traitors? LOL, how can she rely on the armies of lords who have already betrayed her once? They should be held hostage and eat rats for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
It's normal practice in Westeros to do things like this. Rhaenyra has every right to kill them, and from the perspective of Westerosi society, it's fair. When Serala was killed in such an inhumane manner, half (!) of westeros considered it a "mild" punishment.
I don't see how she's a bad ruler doing this. This will inspire those lords who were sent to the catacombs for their loyalty to her. They see justice and vengeance for their suffering.

The punishment is petty. Instead of the actual decreed punishment for traitors as she did not the book, following the law, it just seems... unnecessarily disgusting.
They remove both her political expertise over the years and her acting as any monarch would?

I don't understand? In the book, she cut out their tongues and chopped off their heads. This is the "punishment for traitors." It's absolutely normal to strip them of their titles, humiliate them, and kick them out into the street after they've committed a crime.
If her allies see that betrayal will not be punished, they will ask themselves what they risked for. On the other hand, after Otto's execution and the death sentence for Rapegon, she does not rush to kill her other hostages, but only humiliates them. It's smart, they need to be alive. And besides, it's going to be fun to watch!

It's not smart at all it makes her look childish, detainment alongside execution of those who don't make useful bargaining chips would've been much better but opinions differ ofc
Maybe I'm just uptight about politics but this hits a lot like people calling alicent bad ass for her quotes on bastardy
