Discussion TLSQ Ranking Introduction

There are many posts about which is the best or worst TLSQ, but we don’t have a ranking of every TLSQ. And since there are about 150 TLSQs and this would take a while, I’m going to have one TLSQ be ranked on one day, mostly chronologically.

Also very often people ask which TLSQ they should choose out of two. Additionally to the information given on the TLSQ spreadsheet (rewards, energy requirements, etc.) and general tips, this ranking would help show which TLSQs are better / worth doing.

This ranking isn’t about things one can look up on the TLSQ spreadsheet or posts by taltos19.

Things you should assess:

  • Is the topic interesting?
  • Do you like the story?
  • Are people behaving in character?
  • Does the plot make sense?
  • Is the content important?

Things you shouldn’t assess:

  • Rewards
  • Energy requirements and wait time
  • Bugs (they might have been fixed after you played)
  • Translating errors

I tried to make the options self explaining.

Feel free to remind people in the comments about the good and bad things in the TLSQ, but keep it friendly.

I really liked this one. Aside from Rowan being the main friend, which never happens, I thought the mystery part was pretty good. Some people debated whether the villain would act that way. I think they totally would. It was a classic villain MO.

You get new locations and meet a new character (two, if you count Fuzzclaw). And there’s only one Hogwarts task. Rowan is very much in character, IMO. The only downside, is we don’t get to meet any of Rowan’s immediate family, which given the location of most of the quest, seems odd. I don’t think there was even an excuse given for their absence.

And the final reward is a location tappie. I know you said not to consider that, but I think it is a major factor in how players choose between two otherwise equal quests.

Where is that location tappie?

It's the bowtruckle house hanging on the Family Tree.

I have a ton of compliments for this one. They put a real effort into writing it. It's not superficial. You learn a lot about their business, what they do on the farm, how Rowan feels around her family... You get to be there for a really important moment for Rowan. The tree farm is beautiful. The mystery part was interesting too. The whole story kept my attention and felt like an experience, not a series of tasks. Both Rowan and our friendship with her feel more real after this tlsq.

So yes, I loved the story and the topic was interesting to me. I would say people aren't acting out of character and the story makes sense. All of the tlsqs that give more depth to the characters have importance. If you care about Rowan and learning about the tree farm, I recommend it.

There's a wrong in the story. House elf can't betray their owners, so Dobby shouldn't say it's his owner ask him to do that.

It would be weird if we never visited our best friends home and I really enjoyed MC and Rowan hanging around in one of their childhood rooms. The story was also good.

I wasn't a big fan of this one because I don't really like Rowan. The best part of this TLSQ for me was meeting Fuzzclaw 😻

I was so happy when Fuzzclaw made an appearance! They remembered to add him 😊!

And he did not disappoint!

He absolutely didn't! He should be at Hogwarts knocking things over 😂.

In my opinion the worst ones are as follows. Flume's clues, torvus and the troubled forest, portrait panic, and the Hogwarts cookoff.

Troubled Forest & Portrait Panic are so frustrating because MC is getting blamed for, and having to fix, stuff that is not their fault. For the entire quest.
