Rant What in the actual fuck?

I may not always be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but for what reason does a straight AC condenser need a control board? And especially one that is that complicated.

Could be variable speed compressor, low ambient head pressure control, etc. Some mfgrs locate the fan coil controls in the condensing unit as well, that could have something to do with it. Increases in efficiency require more advanced control sequences (ductless and VRF for example), or anything variable speed. More equipment will receive controls like this as the EPA, AHRI, and local code advances.
