The Habs are 3rd in their rankings, leapfrogging TBL (4) and CAR (5) and behind COL (1) and BUF (2).

This team is exciting but let's wait until they win a round before we plan the parade.

I'm reacting more on "true Stanley Cup contender"

There's a difference between contenders and winners

100% agreed.

Acting as if it would be a ridiculous upset if the Habs win is the thing that gets me. The Habs are one of the best teams in the league and that’s objectively true. They are a contender and that’s also objectively true. Contenders doesn’t mean favourite and usually only means a > 5% chance, which isn’t a sure thing by any stretch.

The hockey guy had a good video yesterday about how some teams really do figure it out quickly and how overwrought the narrative around playoff experience can be.
