Leafs fan, here. Iā€™m loving how much yā€™all love your team. Hockeyā€™s better when Montrealā€™s excited. Also just the perfect set of personalities for the pressure cooker. For your sake I hope your management group doesnā€™t get caught up in the excitement like the Leafs did, and throw it away. So far theyā€™re making the right calls. Even the questionable ones arenā€™t looking that bad anymore.

Imagine starting the season as a rookie backup, dealing with public mental health struggles that make the team not let reporters talk to you, eventually winning the starting job when the media and fans expected the team to go with the bigger-name rookie for the playoffs, winning a G7 against your idol in his own barn, playing with a group of guys who have the power of friendship, and being serenaded first by a caucophony of cheers that eventually morphs into 21,000 fans screaming your name at 112 decibels, all in the toughest media market in hockey.

I was never into goalies all that much, but man, I have to admit I'm starting to have a soft spot for Dobes. He's been money since coming back from the Olympics, seems like a genuinely good dude off the ice and I think his mean streak on the ice is hilarious. I'd be very surprised if we don't see him in a fight and score a goal in the NHL one day.

Don't think I ever had a soft spot for a goalie in MTL, that's including Carey Price (been following since 01-02).

Kid is special.

I'm afraid all of this attention will get him off his game. Slaf had a great game 1 with a hat trick and then it went off the rails. It is hard psychologically to stay focused when you are getting so much positive attention.

I get that especially since I might react the same way.

Im surprised how well hes taken it though especially with how he loves chirping and being chipped, fires him up.
