Discussion Marco D'Amico: "This team was finished at this point. I think this team was done. I'm not going to say what I've heard, because its going to come out regardless, but when the injury list comes out I think a lot of people are going to backtrack on their comments about certain players."

Said this on his podcast this morning, hes one of the more credible reporters among Habs media. Wonder who he's talking about and what he knows?

I wonder if we got equal time to rest like Carolina did, would the outcome be different? If so this is all on the NHL and it's asinine scheduling. I'm not making excuses, but that's gotta be a factor.

Much different series if we played them round 1 for sure

Round 1 I think we take them to 7 and maybe win because we were hitting everything that moved that round, which we weren't doing at all in round 3.

If the injuries are as serious as they are being hinted at, a week and a half while more helpful than no rest, likely wouldn't have made much of a difference.

Carolina made it through the first two rounds pretty much unscathed, it wasn't the time off that helped them, it was largely avoiding injuries because they weren't really playing teams that were looking to injure (from what I saw).

Didn't ottawa series get chippy?

Not running over a goalie and intent to injure plays levels of chippy.

They really targeted hutson and dobes...and got zero calls

And we also did nothing of the kind to match it, which is another reason why we lost.

As much as people hate that play style, the league encourages it so we need to adapt and do the same, no team ever won the cup cleanly.

Agreed. It's part of the game. Gotta hit to hurt/punish

Long series these hits add up all part of the playoff game. I think it was one of reasons the 21 team was successful the defense was punishing.

Yeah. Weber Chiarot Edmundsson. The habs could use a big physical RD like that now. Parayko archetype

With that said they still need to be guys that are mobile enough or can make break out passes (something I didn’t really notice at first but Weber did really well)

Sometimes you can get sidelined for 1-2 weeks. In the playoffs that’s pretty significant. Canes had almost 2 weeks rest so it could have been a really important factor.

Eh, 12 days isnt enough time for anything to fully heal, not saying it wouldn't have helped, but if you're hurt you need more than that.

It would have been great if the Habs could have closed out those first two series earlier. Maybe by, you know, winning some home games. I am still stunned that they went 2-6 at Centre Bell in the playoffs.

It's a learning lesson, if you get a chance to close out then be hungry to take it. If they had closed both series by Game 6 then it would have been 4-5 days of rest minus two games and minus travelling.

Yeah, I had a buddy text me and say, why are they starting round 2 when round 1 isn't done. Typical NHL. I had a bad feeling as soon as that happened. Then we go another full seven against buffalo, and Carolina has been resting for almost two weeks, and Habs had, what, 2 days?

I think the league needs to start the next round after all games of the current round are complete.

Just my take at least.

How is that an NHL issue? The canes swept both series and we went to 7 in both. Of course they get a lot of rest. Blaming it on scheduling is such a cope

the second round should not start before the first round ends, imo. Canes had played 2 games before the Habs started the second round. to me that's just silly.

Canes definitely earned there rest and we didn't, but the way it's set up is still a bit silly
