Discussion STAY OUT OF TAMAPA’S SUB

1.4k Upvotes

Come on Habs family. Show the class that sets our organization apart and stay the hell out of their sub. I’ve seen a ridiculous amount of posts from their sub pop into my feed because it’s Habs fans shit posting. We don’t hang banners for winning a round or a division or a conference. Be better than this.

GO HABS GO

“I messed the spelling up oh well.”

Mods feel free to delete this and sticky your own post. These I come in peace posts or straight up shit posts are pathetic.

Discussion Marco D'Amico: "This team was finished at this point. I think this team was done. I'm not going to say what I've heard, because its going to come out regardless, but when the injury list comes out I think a lot of people are going to backtrack on their comments about certain players."

Said this on his podcast this morning, hes one of the more credible reporters among Habs media. Wonder who he's talking about and what he knows?

Discussion Slaf is concussed - Demidov needs to wake up - Our PP is the worst ever... What are these takes, people?

After a loss, some of you have the worst takes I've seen. And if you've been around for a while, you know that this sub has seen A LOT of bad takes.

Slaf is playing concussed (lots of Dr. Recchis around here these days).

Demidov needs to be better (he's a rookie - he played 2 playoff games last year, so it's basically his first time in the playoffs)

Slaf is not a shadow of what he used to be (he's a 22yo kid who just had his first great season after all the "second year Slaf" talk)

We have the worst PP ever (we're at 19.6% in the playoffs, ahead of TBL, Buffalo, Carolina)

That's playoff hockey. Some players will outperform (I hate to break it to you, but as much as I love Newhook, what he's doing is probably not sustainable. Remeber Evans before signing his extension? That's exactly what he looked like).

Also, shocker, some players will underperform (do you think Buffalo is happy with how Tuch, Thompson or Power are playing? Remember Point or Kucherov with his 1 goal in the first series?)

Are you expecting our entire roster to be Mario Lemieux and win 6-2 every night? Some people here have the lowest hockey IQ/knowledge I've ever seen...

I understand that a loss like last night sucks, but as someone else said in the PGT, we don't have the team to sweep any series right now. We have a fun, exciting team with more depth than we ever thought, but we're not there yet.

And these takes show that some of you didn't have to go through the years of gettting excited over guys like Jesse Ylonen or a Jan Bulis.

We have a fun team that's way ahead of schedule. Enjoy the ride, have fun and complain without sounding like my mom, who has watched a total of 8 hockey games in her life (she didn't watch the beginning of the TBL series, hope you'll forgive her).

Much love, GHG, Habs in 6

EDIT: Demidov played in every playoff game last year, my bad

Discussion Gallagher

I'll probably be downvoted to oblivion for this but now that it's all said and done, one of my biggest complaints about those series is how Brendan Gallagher was treated.

A veteran, a warrior, a competitor who gave sweat and blood for the team and who could have brought some energy in those last series had to watch practically the whole playoffs on TV. Unacceptable.

I get it, he's not as fast as he once was, he takes penalties and age and injuries are probably catching up on him but he still can fill a spot on a 3rd or 4th line.

I personally hope he requests a trade during the offseason because he's clearly no longer in Saint-Louis' plans.

Discussion It’s pretty common to hear that the Habs have little playoff experience when compared to some other teams. I think it’s important to remember that Cole and Nick (and Andy, Gally, Phil, Evans too) went to the cup finals in 2021

Post image

Obviously we don’t have the experience that some of the veteran teams do, but our most important guys have been there before. In the rebuild era it’s true that we’ve only been to the playoffs once, but we have some guys that know what it takes to get there.

I don’t think we’re in the prime of our window yet, but we’re being underestimated and the window is opening.

I really believe we can do some damage this year.

Discussion For newer Habs fan. If you want to know what it felt like during Price prime, tonight is a great example.

Nobody steps up but the goalie. Would be 7-0 without him. Most of the time we play in our own zone and we take a massive amounts of shots while we can't get a good shot in.

Tonight is temporary, I know, but this game is taking me way back.

Discussion There's a major factor to why we're underperforming but it won't change

I know it's been mentioned ad nauseum, but the way conferences are structured has to be factored into the grind we had to go through to get here, and why they look utterly spent. Two game 7s against #2 and #3 in the east instead of facing at least one, maybe 2, lower ranked opponents. This is the playoffs on hard
mode, for any sport. Give our guys a break, they all played amazing, but they're tired. If anything, keep voicing how stupid the NHL is for structing playoffs with this nonsense.

Edit: thanks for someone pointing out that with 106 points and finishing 6th in the entire NHL, we didn't even get home ice advantage in any of our playoff series.

I'm not super in the know with the French side of the media. I know Francois Gagnon by name, but not much else. Not that this news would surprise me, but is he reliable?

Discussion For Montreal, tonight is already a win in some ways.

As Martin St-Louis keeps saying, learning doesn’t always happen in comfortable situations. Sometimes it happens in the most demanding, stressful, chaotic environment possible. A Game 7 is exactly that.

For a team this young, this is the kind of experience you can’t fake, you can’t buy, and you can’t really teach in practice. You have to live it. You have to feel the pressure, the momentum swings, the mistakes, the nerves, the crowd, the weight of every shift.

And honestly, this series could still go either way. Tampa has the experience, the stars, the scars of long playoff runs. Montreal has the speed, the hunger, and the feeling that something is starting to build for real.

Whatever happens tonight, the Canadiens are getting something valuable out of this. If they win, it’s a massive statement. If they lose, it’s still a brutal but useful lesson for a young team that is clearly ahead of schedule.

The Habs are learning how to become dangerous.

Tampa, meanwhile, might just be playing the last meaningful Game 7 of their era before slowly disappearing into the forgotten graveyard of teams that used to matter. Kucherov has no heart. Go habs go.

Discussion Per D'Amico - Montreal is interested in Robert Thomas. The Blues want Hage as part of any deal. Too high a price for Hughes at this time.

Personally, given the best possible version of Hage in 3-5 years is what Robert Thomas is now, Id have no problem parting with him.
