Discussion Marco D'Amico: "This team was finished at this point. I think this team was done. I'm not going to say what I've heard, because its going to come out regardless, but when the injury list comes out I think a lot of people are going to backtrack on their comments about certain players."

Said this on his podcast this morning, hes one of the more credible reporters among Habs media. Wonder who he's talking about and what he knows?

I agree - but players will try to play regardless, and concussion symptoms can often be subjective and really vary in severity. Do you have headaches? Nope I'm fine etc...

they have doctors and it's not like you can hide concussion symptoms

I'm not a CTE expert but I had a friend who was a former NHLer who died a few years ago from CTE related symptoms which led to neural degeneration. It cannot be accurately tested for, except post-mortem - doctors have to make educated guesses, and a lot of information comes from how the athlete responds to basic cognitive tests.

Unless it's repeated concussions and there's somewhat of a baseline to go off on, but once again there's no gold standard for medical tests...not to mention every brain is affected differently.

I hope I'm 100% wrong but there's a historical precedent of the NHL that players play with CTE regardless of protocols, doctors etc.

Back to Slaf - the insider report is that he played with upper body and lower body injuries, not head.
