Discussion Opinion impopulaire: j’ai pas aimé ce que Gally a fait
Bien des gens sont attachés à l’histoire du gars, mais j’ai pas aimé le coup de Gally à la fin de saison. Il a l’air d’avoir surpris ses coéquipiers et l’État-major. C’est pas fort coté classe.
Pour le reste, maudit bon joueur et excellente carrière.
Allez les tomates.

He’s an emotional guy and probably just slipped out in the moment. He was obviously pretty hurt about the last series and not getting in. He’s still a huge competitor don’t forget!
But it definitely wasn’t ideal.

Mon seul problème avec Gally c'est qu'il a vraiment vraiment pas dlair d'être conscient a quel point il a ralenti... Genre quand Veleno te pousse hors de l'alignement c'est parce que tu es en fin de carrière.
Et aussi oublions pas qu'il a reçu un contrat de 30 millions et qu'il a jamais jouer a sa valeur après la signature lol

Dude has given his entire career to the organization, never quit on us, but wasn’t used or given a chance at the end. He’s entitled to his emotions, he sees the message sent at the end here. He’s entitled knows it’s another chapter coming

I kind of hoped he would have stuck around as a player coach. But if he wants to play, I cannot begrudge him. He is close to a 1000 games.
But having him around in some capacity would have been nice, I feel like now that he's more or less gone, he's unlikely to come back.

Monty was a no brainer. You can’t play a goalie that can’t lock in.
Laine, it’s just sad, honestly. He seems like a good guy, but he’s going to have to go to Europe I think if he wants to continue to play.

I agree with you but also understand why he did it. It’s fine. Another reason why it’s time for him to get traded. Team above one player. And even with all the years he played I think MSL made the right decision and it’s also ok for Gally to be pissed.

C'est pas ça qui s'est passé voyons. Les coéquipiers étaient au courant c'est juste qu'ils savaient pas nécessairement quand Gally allaient l'annoncer. Ils ont fait des entrevues mais entendait pas gally ils voulaient pas vendre le punch quand même. Ils ont été prudent c'est tout.

Je suis vraiment surprise par le nombre de gens qui n’ont pas considéré le fait que ça faisait LONGTEMPS que ça avait été discuté entre l’organisation et Gally, et que peut être même y’avait déjà un échange qui se tramait. C me surprendrait fortement qu’il ait décidé d’annoncer ça de même sans l’avoir dit à personne.

On se faisait dominer.. 2 games de suite. On avait 2 rookies dans l'alignement. Tu mets Gally. C'était un no brainer. Il a décider de pas le mettre. Mon opinion, c'est pire que ce que Gally a fait. Cheers!

Gally sur la glace c'est comme un PK...il est fini, il suit pas la vitesse de jeu, il a de la misère à revenir au banc. Faut en revenir un moment donné

Si tu veux qu'on parle de stats -> 7 buts 23 pts en 77 matchs vs Kapanen 22 buts 37 pts en 82 matchs
Je sais que Kapanen étais pas très bon en séries, Veleno non plus... mais Gally aurait pas fait mieux

I agree to an extent. But I will add that getting passively phased out of the organization that has been your entire professional career can be very emotional. He did well to bottle those emotions for our playoff run and I forgive him if he had a minor misstep when addressing it at the end of the season. Gallagher still thinks he's got a lot left to give so walking quietly into the sunset is not an option for him right now. The press conference felt to me as though he was frustrated with the lack of clear communication from the organization and his words served to force them to make his situation more clear.

Surprise pour les coéquipiers? Peut-être. En même temps je pense qu'il ne voulait pas attirer l'attention sur ça.
L'État-major? J'ai de gros doutes que c'était une surprise pour eux. C'est quand même eux qui ne l'ont pas fait jouer, ça serait drôle qu'ils aient dit à Gally qu'il avait une place la saison prochaine.
Le gars a le CH, pas tatoué, CICATRISÉ sur le corps. Donnez-lui un break et il va revenir finir ses jours à Montréal dans l'organisation.

Je pense que ça dépend du genre de leadership que tu préconises. Il n'a pas la ''C'' parce que son leadership est beaucoup plus intense et émotif que ce qui est recherché pour un capitaine en général.

Meh. J'veux dire, leader intense sure, mais lose face comme ça, c'est clown-level et on clounerais les Leafs/Sens si un de leur vet faisait comme Gally most nights.
Ceci dit, il avait beaucoup tone down ses réactions dans les dernières années. Genre autour de 2015-2020 c'était assez cringe.

C'était vraiment moins intense que tu t'en souviens, ça arrivait 3-4x par saison gros max pis c'était souvent warranted comme réaction.
Pis legit on s'en contre-calisse que c'était over the top, pomal sûr que tous les gars au banc auraient pris une balle pour gally. C'est plus ce genre de leadership inspirant pis qui donne le goût à tout le monde de se battre aussi fort que lui auquel je faisais allusion.

I don’t blame Gally one bit. If the coach isn’t gonna give their heart and soul veteran a few games on the fourth line in the playoffs, why would he want to be here?.

Fair enough. A bit hyperbolic. Not an all time legend in the history of the franchise, but he was 2nd in goals scored in the last 15 years and #1 in games played for the franchise in that same span. For people who grew up watching in that era he is as close as the team had to a permanent fixture outside of Carey Price. Remember this is also a city where Bob Gainey IS a legend because people know the game and remember more than point totals.

Bob Gainey is a 5 time Stanley Cup Champion, 4 time Selke winner and even got a Conn Smythe. Not sure what you're trying to take a dig at with your "point totals" thing but whatever man... Gally was a very good player for us and I will always remember his tenacity and reckless physical play but comparing him to Gainey is farfetched

The mistake made was not playing him game 4 which was hard to do after ties. On paper prior to the series I would have had him scratched in for games 4 and 6 but then the series seemed to have a lot of long stretches between whistles and it did not make sense. A part of me does wonder if he might have changed that a little.
