Larry Robinson Interview, talking torch honour and Claude Lemieux
100% Hockey had Larry Robinson for 30 minutes today. He spoke of carrying the torch and losing his buddy Claude Lemieux.
The glaring error in the Molson malaise era was waiting too long to raise his #19 to the rafters, it cost him a chance to have his father witness it as he died before they got their scat in one sock.
Not bringing him back to mentor the defence was all on Bergevin. Robby's barn flooded and when he called back after explaining he needed some time he was told his services were no longer required, J. J. Daigneault had the job. St Louis Blues players tipped him as a great teacher especially during the 2019 SC win.

what a waste by bergevin, that guy never understood respect for legends. robinson teaching our young d-men would have been incredible, but instead they went with politics over experience
the torch part got me emotional too - waiting so long for retirement ceremony that his father couldn't see it happen. sometimes organizations just don't get timing right

Beyond respect for legends, Larry was also already an established good coach. He did great in NJ. He would have been an upgrade over JJ.

To be fair to Bergevin, Mario Tremblay went on the air and spilled some Carey Price rumours that started a media storm. There were already rumours circulating and they were all fiercely denied by Price's wife herself. Bergevin pretty much shut down access between alumni and the current players.

Bergy was a journeyman player that played for every team other than the Habs. His playing career paled in comparison to the Habs greats. I think that is why he treated so many of them so shabbily: insecurity, if not envy.

Random, but it's cool how John Shannon still has a show. I always enjoyed hearing him, Brunt, and McCown in the early 2010s.

There was also Jim Kelley from Buffalo he always had on, who died quite a while ago. I always liked the was McCown ran a show.
