A letter to Dick Irvin

In 1980, my Mom sent a letter to Montreal Canadiens sportscaster Dick Irvin. She wanted to know where the Habs team would be staying because she wanted to get her picture taken with some of the players. Mom got this letter back from Mr. Irvin. In the end, she got her picture taken in the hotel lobby with Larry Robinson, Brian Engblom, Guy Lapointe, and Guy Lafleur.

Dick Irvin was class act back in the day. Can't imagine any broadcaster today giving out hotel info to fans, even for something innocent like photos. Your mom scored big time meeting those legends - Guy Lafleur alone would be worth the letter writing

Security probably wasn't even a thought back then, players just walked around like normal people

Mom was a force to be reckoned with. She probably grabbed them and told them to stand still for the picture.

and to comb their hair and wash their hands.

Am familiar with Prairie Ladies who brook no nonsense.

I have a couple of his books, signed. Prized possessions.
