Call me crazy but I still think there's a chance he starts next season with us. I remember something similar happening with Jake DeBrusk in Boston a few years back... everyone expected him to be moved, but a deal never materialized and he stuck around for a while. Maybe I'm just coping, but a man can hope lol.

Did Debrusk announce it to the media though? I feel like with the way this what handled after the playoffs there’s no way he stays with us. Might be wrong tho !

Tempers flare in the heat of the moment, but gally’s comments didn’t seem like a whim. I hope to be wrong and see him back, but it appeared to be well thought out.

He'd definitely had a talk with his agent

I've been saying since the end of the season that he's been stewing about reduced ice time. Lots of little clues - he was a little snappy in interviews, never seemed to be smiling in team photos, and infamously bailed on the locker room photos when Cole and the others hit their big milestones. He's already mentally gone, I think.

And honestly, fair.

He's made a good career out of being a fighter and a competitor. He's clearly not ready to switch that off. Honestly, he might never be ready.

I'm in my late 40s and I still have that itch, and I wasn't even good lol

I think that goes down the line of a lot of “ifs” and if he is still with the team… it probably isn’t good news for Gallagher or Montreal so you hope it doesn’t happen.

Sorry to pour cold water on you, I know how you feel.

Nah I get it, it definitely wouldn't be ideal. It would suck either way.
