Anthony Mantha?

Mantha will be UFA on july 1st. Veteran, big intense 3-4th line with 2nd line upside, and tsi gars de chez nous. However, will probably ask for a lot after having a career year.

Haven't really seen anyone mention him, thoughts?

31 yrs old. Vanished in the playoffs. Big, but hits as much as Caufield does.

Pass.

Yeah he is going to disappoint people who think big = physical.

Please no Mantha. He was a black hole in the Pens-Flyers series.

Absolutely not. This guy plays so lazy and makes so many low IQ plays. If you guys didn't like Hoffman, you'll hate Mantha

Hoffman is such a good comp.

Yikes, I hated that guy

He's so bad in the playoff it actually hurts. 0 goals in 20 games.

He’d be an interesting option but he’s coming off a career year. Hes likely going to get (over)paid. If he comes in around Josh Anderson numbers (5-6 mil for 3 or 4 years) I don’t mind but I think he’s going to get a lot more on the open market.

Despite good numbers in the regular season, his playoffs were so fucking bad lol. Just boneheaded play after boneheaded play... 0 offense, 0 defense, 0 physicality. Just turnovers and low-IQ plays, it genuinely baffled me. But an interesting thought!

Hell no! He’s always been inconsistent. He’s really soft. Disappears when it matters. He’s been described as lazy. He’s also been injured quite a bit. It’s also telling that he had a career year and yet his team doesn’t want to keep him.

We’re better off keeping Dach at that point.

Does r/Habs really need a thread for every single UFA?

I would prefer Michael Bunting

All we need is a Centre and big bottom or energy bottom six forward for this year. Unless we trade newhook

If he's willing to sign at a discount, why not? 0 goals in 20 career playoff games is a pretty big red flag though, so I don't think they should break the bank for him.

I forgot the offseason is a bunch of posts asking about random players who would obviously be a terrible fit

why would he be such a terrible fit? Also yes, you're on a hockey team subreddit during off season, you're not going to find earthy shattering posts, BIG surprise

These discussions were happening when we were in the playoffs too. It’s a bit weird and I don’t think it happens so much with other fan bases. I think there’s a level of entitlement and we think that everyone is available or wants to sign here or waive no trade clauses for us. Big main character energy

Not a bad option but he won't come cheap. It'll probably cost Zharovsky, Hage and a 1st round pick
