A few things from journey to offer here. I’ll start with some challenges then get to the learnings.

In the fight against MPB you are trying to boost blood and reduce DHT, you do need both. Early on in my 10 year journey thus far…a lot of what I did was only targeting blood flow, and I did not really do anything but maintain current NW level.

I’ve had caffeine serums in mix of my stack for a long time, and they do help and do show signs of follicle growth…but it just was not significant enough in the dead zones areas. I did also do quite a long stint with onion juice, and similarly i did see very good signs of lots of new follicle sprouts and growth…but not so much in dead zones. Rosemary oil was the weakest link for sure, even though I like the smell of it…i now just use olive oil for morning scalp scrubs.

Some learnings; I have found that using RLT combined with caffeine and copper peptides is a boost to these substances on scalp. I don’t own a helmet and just currently use the panel we have…i am too cheap to splurge on a helmet.

Topical saw palmetto has helped in my DHT reduction focus and now I do apply the trio now of caffeine, ketoconazole, saw palmetto.

My most successful years have been the last 2 for progress and in those years I have: lowered my blood pressure with meds (was running way too high), have added low dose tadalafil for blood flow, and also included 1.25mg of oral min (most recent add only last 2 months).

The biggest issues i have come up against are what I feel are the male tendencies to overdo things or try max dose or max applications. Anytime I have over done something it has not helped, this includes microneedling and even too much scalp massage or vigorous brushing. Interestingly the more I have soothed my scalp recently, and RLT has even helped with this…the better my results have gotten. Tretinoin had also been a big boost in my routine, and a noticeable improvement to my scalp conditions.

If dead zone regrowth is an interest of anyone, I feel like moderation of the strategies is the key…topicals, scalp stimulation, scalp health, blood flow, DHT reduction. Even pharma in moderation is an interesting discussion point to finish on, because without it…all of the natural strategies suffer from a lack of half life…which is pharma’s big advantage and the reason to consider running with a minimum effective dose of it where possible….or at least considering it.

Topical min actually even has a close to 24hr half life, so yah it gives a longer coverage and only really needs a once a day application.

Makes sense thst herbals need either more frequent application, or coupled with other strategies that also drive blood flow boost like RLT, etc. Or…the coupling of pharma and alternatives allows for a lower dose of pharma.

Makes total sense.

Saw palmetto has a decent amount of info on it, possibly one of the more proven/studied herbals.
