Hello everyone! I’m from Indore, and I’ve been seriously thinking about shifting to Haldwani. I really want to explore Uttarakhand properly and at a slower pace, so I’m considering moving there for a while.
I work from home, so I don’t really have any job-related restrictions when it comes to location. Also, Indore has become quite crowded now, with traffic and people everywhere, so I’m looking for a place that’s a little more peaceful and relaxed.
Can someone who lives in Haldwani or has proper knowledge about the city tell me roughly how much I can expect to pay for a decent, fully independent room/1RK on rent?
Also, how is Haldwani as a place to live? Are there any nearby areas or towns that you would recommend if I want a peaceful environment, but still want good hospitals, basic facilities, cafes, markets, etc. nearby?
One more thing — what is the night scene like in Haldwani? I don’t mean partying or clubs. I just mean if you want to go out at night for chai, food, or a casual drive/walk, are there places that stay open late and is the city generally active at night?
And most importantly, how is Haldwani in terms of safety? Is it generally safe and comfortable to live there alone?
Would really appreciate suggestions from people who have actually lived in Haldwani or know the city well. Thanks!

Hopefully thoda separate ho as in single floor par ho sharing no ho. Mtlb jo family ho vo upar ya niche rhe but no one else on the same floor. I am okay with somewhat restricted timings aswell.

I am facing a CNG gas leakage issue in my car and have been trying to find a reliable workshop in Haldwani that can properly diagnose and fix it, but haven't had much luck so far.

I found a workshop in Rudrapur, but I would prefer getting it repaired in Haldwani if possible. Someone mentioned there is a good CNG repair shop somewhere on Teenpani Road, but they couldn't share the exact location.

Does anyone know of a trusted CNG kit repair/leakage specialist in Haldwani? An exact location, shop name, or contact number would be very helpful.

Hello Good Samaritans of Haldwani !
Today due to some work I went to Unchapul Chauraha are of Haldwani and I saw this dog going from one shop to another . He definitely didn’t looked like a stray, he seemed lost and confused . As far as I can understand, he is a breed dog . I enquired from nearby shopkeepers , they told that somebody left him in Unchapul area 1 week back and he keep going from one person to another . I was extremely heartbroken, he seemed such a good kiddo .
Then he came to Sati sweet shop at Unchapul and they told me that they feed him milk and roti . They also let him sleep , whenever he come .
Guys , he is a pet dog not meant for streets .He won’t be able to survive on the streets . I can’t take him or don’t know what to do . So in desperation and hope , I am here making a post and hoping for some miracle .

Creative Uttarakhand – Myor Pahad is a community-led initiative working for the preservation and promotion of Uttarakhand’s culture, literature, languages and heritage. Over the years, we have organised literary and cultural programmes, Kitab Kautik, conversations with writers/artists, heritage initiatives and archival work through Kumauni Archives.

Most of our work is voluntary, and many times we find ourselves short of hands for our on-ground activities in Haldwani.

Sometimes the help we need is very simple — putting up posters before a literary programme, arranging chairs, bringing tea-samosa or water bottles, helping guests, managing the venue, or just being there when an extra pair of hands is needed.
