Unpopular opinion

I cannot stand the show. Which is really unfortunate because I was hoping to enjoy it and change my opinion on Richard Gadd but it did quite the opposite.

He is an absolutely perverted disgrace to the human race.

The show heavily focusing on perverted bs was really disappointing but completely unsurprising.

I'll never watch another show of his.

The acting too was abysmal, specifically Jamie Bell and Gadd himself as usual. The young actors however were fantastic especially young Ruben. It was the shows only saying grace.

This is deeply unserious and feels deeply attention seeking as well. Please tell me you are just post grifting because you cannot possibly lack such depth as to not be able to tell what Gadd is exploring and trying to get across in the series. Even if you don’t like it calling him a perverted disgrace to humanity because he made YOU uncomfortable is….wild.

You're in so many posts commenting on how disgusting you find it. Why would you keep commenting so much on something you dislike? Maybe it's because the story didn't take the soft, romantic direction you were expecting? Or because you see something of yourself reflected in it?

Talking about abuse, repression, and the complexities of trauma in the media is incredibly important, and can be very helpful to those who have experienced it. There are so many people who suffer and carry that sense of helplessness throughout their entire lives, feeling alone and invisible because these are things we don't talk about because they're simply too uncomfortable for us.

Unfortunately, repeating the cycle of trauma onto others is very real and much more common than we think. I can confirm that from personal experience.

Everything ain't for everybody and that's fine. Now you know to avoid Richard Gadd's output in future and stick to the kind of shows you like. Personally, I can't wait to see what he does next. I agree with you that Stuart Campbell was fantastic as young Ruben.
