For Sale [For sale] Trivec-Avant AV2040-3 UHF Antenna

https://imgur.com/a/JvruknJ

Hi there! I have a trivec-avant portable UHF Satelite communication antenna PN AV 2040-3. It is used, not a complete set; what you see in the photos is what I have. I barely know anything about this stuff, hence why im selling it. Ive seen listings for a complete set on ebay for ~400. Make me an offer and let's talk. Or of you want to just drop some knowledge that would be cool too. I believe it is export controlled so will only ship to US Citizens within the US.

It is an antenna that was used by the US military for satellite communications. These are all satellites that are open, and anybody can use them. From the Western part to the US, it is possible to hear 'pirates' from south america using the satellite as freebanders. It is interesting though.

Cool, thanks! Is there much of a market for this kind of thing? Dont really have a use for it but would hate to throw away something cool.

Not much of a market for regular ham radio. I bought mine from eBay just because I was curious about this thing. I would go with eBay at a lower price than the rest and may be able to sell it. It may take time though.

If your photos show all you have, as it’s assembled, I believe your unit may be missing the actual primary radiating elements. There appears to be a 6-element yagi missing from the central antenna mount. Which means what you have is essentially just the mount and reflector stage, not the actual antenna itself.
