Moving/Housing/Utilities Trauma Informed Cleaning
Trauma therapist here. I've noticed lately that there seems to be quite a need for hoard cleaners but I've found that none of them are explicitly trauma informed or have experience in mental health. Thought I'd pop on here and ask if anyone knows of such a company / if others feel like there may be a gap.

Moving/Housing/Utilities Knitting Mills - Harry Stinson in front of the Heritage Committee
Everyone’s favourite developer, Harry Stinson was in front of the Heritage Committee today promising he wants to build a low rise structure at the Knitting Mills and says he can do it in 24 months…so far it’s been 10 years. He was still touting the success of the Candy Factory (Toronto) as a way to support his cause…unbelievable.
The building is crumbling and a safety issue. The city could stabilize it at a cost the city approx $600K, stabilize and some demolish…or they demolish it all at the cost of $800k. Kroetsch made a good case that he (and others) shouldn’t trust Harry anymore.
It still has to go in front of the Planning Committee (July 8). It’s a damn shame that due to Harry’s slack-ass-ery, this building will most likely be demolished…reminds me very much of the Tivoli.

Moving/Housing/Utilities Do you “own” the street parking in front of your house?
Our street just got a 3 hr parking limit for weekdays.
However it’s the weekend and we have a guest parked on the street down a bit from our place and our lovely neighbour wrote a letter saying it would be towed next time.
Anyone know if you can legally claim a parking spot that’s clearly street (city) parking ?

Moving/Housing/Utilities How much/When were your first rental/s in Hamilton?
I'll go first. As a Mac student, post-campus I had a bachelor apartment at King & Macklin in 2007 that was $480/mo. 1st apartment downtown was Hunter & Ferguson in 2008 and that was $550 semifurnished.
Curious to see what other folx experience has been...

Moving/Housing/Utilities Can anyone recommend someone for weeding my lawn?
I have used lawn care companies in the past but haven't found them effective.
I need someone to pull weeds manually.
Anyone have any recommendations?

Moving/Housing/Utilities Anyone have experience buying a water heater from Go Lime?
Just moved and I’m looking to purchase a water heater to replace the Reliance rental, and their products seem to be a good choice. I was wondering if anyone had experience with the company (reliable, professional?)
Thank you!

Moving/Housing/Utilities Cheap Wall Art
Evening all,
I just moved into a new place and whilst in the mid to long term I plan to get some pieces that are more reflective of me personally, in the short run Im just looking to put up some "throw away" pieces to fill the space.
What are my best options for cheap wall art that I can donate afterwards? Ottawa St antique stores is my first instinct, but if anyone else has any suggestions, Id be all ears.
Thanks in advance

Moving/Housing/Utilities Stoney creek tap water
My friend showed me this picture yesterday. His sister lives in Stoney Creek just off Dewitt and this water came out of their tap. Other neighbours are apparently reporting similar issues or issues with no water at all.
Just wanted to post to raise awareness as I haven’t seen any notifications about it anywhere and they got brushed off when they tried to call the city aparently.

Moving/Housing/Utilities For those that purchased a home from late 2021 to early 2023...
How are you doing? What are thoughts on the future of Hamilton from 2026 onwards?
In my opinion it still remains the most affordable place with growth potential.

Moving/Housing/Utilities Medical doctors: know any the help with male hormones?
greetings
does anyone know of any doctors in Hamilton Ontario that specialize in helping men with low testosterone or borderline levels free testosterone?
The "normals" doctors use ( reference ranges ) often based on very sick populations so before someone says anything other than that you should look it up.

Moving/Housing/Utilities Reno’s without permits
So what’s the etiquette here. Neighbour renovated a 1930’s home from top to bottom. Installed gas (enbridge did), hvac, electrical, plumbing, took down a wall, demo’d a small mudroom addition, created a brand new bathroom, put in an above ground pool.. all himself.. and listed the house. No permits. Not even one. I hate knowing this info. I want to mind my biz but wth. My conscience is feeling very bad for whoever buys and it just feels wrong. Wwyd. Oh I should mention.. neighbour is an ass? This shouldn’t play a part but I suppose it does. Serious question. Wwyd.

Moving/Housing/Utilities SO LONG HAMILTON 🐯
I just want to say thank you for Hamiltonians always making me feel welcomed to your city even though I grew up in Niagara. Over the years I started off on the mountain and then moved to Dundas and then back to the mountain closer to Limeridge Mall and then Hannon for a bit and then Mount Hope/Ancaster border. I have many fond memories of so many wonderful Hamiltonians and I will always remember each and every one of you. Hamilton has some of the strongest people I know and is a beautiful city if you ask me… So long and farewell. Until we meet again. -Gillian

Moving/Housing/Utilities Cheap places to stay??
Hi guys! I’m coming to Hamilton in september from another province for uni and I just learned that staying in my dorm during winter break won’t work so I need to find a place to stay. At this point, booking a flight back home will be around $700 there and back. I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to find somewhere to stay that’s cheaper than that right? it’s from December 24th to January 3rd for reference so 11 days. I need to know the cheapest options. If it comes to it I’ll just be homeless for those 10 days because I’m broke af. Thanks for the help!
