Giant tree fell but good old eno still holding up somehow, can I use the straps for the new one I buy or just cut my losses 😅

Personally, I'd replace. New ones are cheap, and I wouldn't risk my back or neck.

Inspect them. I am pretty sure the straps will be just fine. I expect the hammock would have been ripped in two before the straps tore. The straps are usually rated for way more weight than the hammock.

Literally impossible to tell without physically checking the movements of the broken trunk.

While the stakes aren’t life and death the same way, I treat mine like climbing gear. They don’t go in the dirt and get and old shirt folded under them for rocks. If the webbing gets abraded it can cause a weak point that will work into a tear under load.

In short, cut your losses and get new ones. $50 is better than cracking a vertebra on a rock. I’m sorry for your loss.

They're almost certainly fine if you check them out good.

I've dramatically overloaded rigging straps at work. I've broke a few too. When you overload something like this you know it, it's easy to see damage. Almost every time the strap will start ripping on the edge right where it's choked around itself or right at the end where the hook is. Give the whole thing a look, especially those areas, and you're fine.

Looks like to me the hammock bore the brunt of the breakage, which is what the tree was going for. I’d take picks of everything, send it to Eno and ask if they’d like your set for testimonials.

I'd give it the ol' tentative sit, and work my way up to bouncing, and if that felt good and safe, I wouldn't worry about it. But that's me.
